We tend to think of the followers as unable to lead, weak, and most definitely weaker than a leader. We think of leaders as invulnerable, strong, able to direct the mob to new directions.
Leaders have charm, charisma, and allure, while followers have steadiness, loyalty, and faith. It takes all kinds to make a world, and some stand tall as beacons in order to guide others, while some look to the beacons for a sense of who they are.
And, in the same vein, there are cult leaders and cult members. Like many things in life, astrology is a great indicator of our personality traits, and when it comes to being a cult member, there are certain zodiac signs who are most likely to join a cult.
Cults are not always the kind that ask their members to drink Koolaid and die. No, sometimes a cult is theatrical, or helpful, or technological. People might argue that Alcoholics Anonymous is a cult, and that its members are brainwashed fools who are forced to relinquish any notion of personal power so they can give it up to a "higher power."
One might see this as helpful, while another might perceive this group as a bunch of rabid cult members who, year after year, must continue to chant the same mantra "I am an alcoholic" decades after they've had their last drink. Helpful to some, negatively reinforced to another.
Some people are naturally inclined to be in the cult mindset; they need guidance, they lack the drive to think on their own, and they desperately need to be a part of something larger than they are. Cult members who join larger organizations are looking to be herded, and it stems from deep feelings of self-hate and lack of confidence.
