Comedians of the World on Netflix premiered on January 1st, and since then, viewers have had a chance to see what life is like all around the globe. With comics from India, Australia, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, and more, we’re getting an inside look at how countries deal with sexuality, racism, sexism, and everything in between. The series features 30-minute stand-up routines from 47 comedians, and some specials are even aired in different languages. But Netflix provides subtitles for all non-English shows, so now you have no excuse to not watch.

And one of the most celebrated comics in his country is François Bellefeuille. This comedian uses sarcasm, wit, and observational humor to “leave his audience in tears” from laughter. But despite his success, he’s humble, and has been described as a humorist who “takes nothing for granted and proves extremely demanding with himself.”

Since moving to comedy, he’s appeared in multiple festivals, including Zoofest, Just for Laughs, and Gala des Fêtes. This has led to many awards for his work; he won the 2010 Abitibi Humor Succession Contest, the 2010 Just for Laughs Festival, the 2011 Media Star Choice Award at Zoofest, the 2011 Discovery of the Year Award at the Gala Les Olivier, and the Victor Prize at Gala des Fêtes.

He co-founded the Bordel Comedy Club in 2015.

And he credits his hard work for his success: “When I have an idea in mind, I feel like I’m not stopped. As soon as I have a chance to change things, even if it’s just 1 percent chance, I’ll try everything to get where I want. I realized pretty quickly that success comes from working.”
