Happy World Beard Day to the men who have them and the people who love them! World Beard Day — also known as National Beard Day to some — falls on September 1, and since beards are seen throughout the world, it definitely deserves a global celebration as epic as this notorious facial look deserves.
The decision for a man to grow out a beard is dependent upon his own style and preferences. Some guys prefer it, while others might opt for some facial hair but maybe not a full-blown beard.
That being said, not all beards are alike. Some men have well-managed, shorter beards, but then there are others who tend to go for a more wild approach to the look. Anyone remember ZZ Top?
There are men out there who are so genetically blessed that they can look amazing with or without a beard, and some guys actually look better with a beard. On the other hand though, beards aren't for everyone.
He may have finally won a long-overdue Oscar for his role in The Revenant, but the bearded look didn't exactly work for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Thankfully though, the acclaimed actor is back to being clean shaven for his new role in the star-studded Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The bearded look has been popular for centuries too. From ancient philosophers to monarchies during the middle ages, men throughout history have been seen sporting the look.
Normally, guys are viewed as having it way easier than us girls when it comes to hair upkeep, but if you ask any man with a beard, he'll likely tell you those require some work and proper maintenance as well.

Jamie Dornan may have played the notorious Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey without a beard, but in real life, the actor prefers the full facial hair look - and somehow manages to look even hotter.

In addition to working alongside his wife, Emily Blunt, in the film A Quiet Place, he's now taking over the role of C.I.A. hero Jack Ryan in the series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. Since leaving The Office though, John has been seen rocking a beard from time to time, and we can definitely say that Jim would be turning heads at a Dundler Mifflin reunion.

Idris Elba is a current fan favorite to take over the role of James Bond once current Bond actor Daniel Craig steps down. It's easy to see why though. The British film star is one of the sexiest men in Hollywood, and he is someone who exudes a natural charm that he can use to pull off a gig as the new Bond. Naturally, Idris is someone who looks just as incredible with a beard, though if he does get to play James Bond, we may not get to see him with a beard for a while.

Ryan Reynolds is another superhero actor on our list who looks just as handsome with a beard. The Deadpool star is also swoon-worthy when it comes to his relationship with his wife, actress Blake Lively, who stars in the new film A Simple Favor. The two love to tease each other on their Instagram accounts.

To this day, it's hard to understand how someone as gorgeous as Tom Hardy would have one of his most famous roles be one in which his entire face is covered. I'm referring, of course, to his portrayal of the villain Bane in the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. When it comes to beards, it seems they were made for Tom Hardy. The tattooed actor exudes a rugged, bad-boy appeal that brings his beard game to the next level. So hot!

Theo James is famous for his work in the Divergent film franchise as the character Four. The actor has been seen sporting a beard from time to time on red carpets, and they definitely suit the handsome star well.

Even though we assumed we wouldn't get a chance to see him again as Steve Trevor, it appears we get to have Chris back in Wonder Woman 1984. Yes!

Oscar Isaac plays rebellious pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars films The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Even though he starred in one of the biggest Hollywood franchises in history, he's an accomplished actor in many smaller, dramatic film roles as well in which we got to the see the handsome actor with a beard on film.
One of those roles was his star-making turn as the title character in the Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis.
