Are you someone who gets caught up in the past and can’t seem to move on? If you look to astrology, your zodiac sign can tell you whether you're someone who's prone to holding on maybe a little too tightly to the past, or if you're a person who lives without regret and in the moment.
Sometimes the past has a way of creeping up on you just when you think you've dealt with its ugly head.
You might blame yourself and wonder why you can't seem to move on.
Others seem to find a way to forget. Maybe you wonder why it is that you can't let go of something that hurt you years ago.
Don’t worry; it’s not totally your fault! Your zodiac sign has a lot to do with how well you deal with the past and grow from it.
Everyone has baggage.
It may be something simple, like a breakup. Maybe you said something dumb during a presentation, or maybe it’s hardcore, like a death you blame yourself for.
No matter what’s in your past’s suitcase, whether you hold onto it or not may be a result of your zodiac sign.
Specific signs are easily able to let the past be an example to learn from. In ancient astrology, it was believed that each day was an opportunity to learn a life lesson.
These patterns of energy were followed in the alignment of the stars and the planets. So, when your horoscope says that you will have a day of healing, or maybe you'll run into someone in the past, it's a sign of things to come.
If you're someone who is easily thrown back into a past situation that you've not let go of yet, this can be painful.
Some can fall into a pit of depression from too much self-pity reliving previous events. But you don't always have to if you understand what's going on and why.
According to astrology, here are which signs of the zodiac have certain a harder time release the past and moving forward to their future:
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Your attention to detail is probably a good thing in most cases, but it isn’t your friend in this case. Virgos are known to be extremely analytical and can take it too far analyzing the past.
As a Virgo, you’re stuck on something that already happened, whether it was yesterday or 5 years ago, and you can’t seem to move on.
You replay scenarios over and over in your head and come up with a different outcome of what could have happened if you played your cards differently.
Virgos have the hardest time letting go of the past, and it will take a while before they are ready to learn from it.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
Even though you wish it didn’t, the past always seems to haunt a Pisces. You’re too hard on yourself!
Many times you feel like a victim to your own thoughts and it stunts your personal growth. Much like a Virgo, a Pisces overthinks everything.
That embarrassing thing you did in high school? Yeah, you avoid everyone you know from that school — God forbid they remember. It’s difficult to grow when you’re stuck in 2006.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Scorpios have trouble letting go in general, especially if it was something that hurt her or those close to her. She will hold a grudge until the day she dies, and it can be hard to progress when you’ve got so much stored anger.
The faster a Scorpio learns to forgive, the quicker she will be able to get on with her life and be the best she can be. Until then, she won’t be able to gain any ground in the fight for self-improvement.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
If you are a Libra, you likely hate being alone with your thoughts. You easily fall into a well of self-pity once you start to think about the past.
It doesn’t help that you keep everything bottled up inside instead of confronting those you have an issue with.
When you put all of these traits together you have someone who holds herself back on purpose without even noticing. Libras tend to focus on the past, not the future, which prevents her from moving forward.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
A Cancer’s imagination gets the best of her when it comes to allowing the past to promote growth. Cancers will come up with every possible alternate ending to a situation knowing it won’t change a thing.
Oh, a Cancer you know broke a boy’s heart? Trust me, she still thinks about how she could have lessened the blow to this day.
It’s just innate for a Cancer to connect emotionally to everything that happens in her life, no matter how insignificant. A Cancer’s pessimistic outlook won’t let her move on, and she thinks because she can’t get over her past, no one can.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
This sign thrives when it comes to deep thinking. Combine that with a fear of the past and you’ve got someone who easily gets caught up in prior events.
But an Aquarius is also very good at solving problems, and that doesn’t exclude her own. She’s likely to spend a good deal of her free time rerunning the past, but unlike the signs listed above, she will come up with a solution and a plan to get the most out of the situation.
An Aquarius will get caught up in the past, but not for long because she’ll find her own way out of the ditch she dug.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
If a Gemini wants to forget yesteryear and learn from her mistakes to better herself she will, but it will not happen without some struggles.
A Gemini has a rough time making up her mind and can change her mind in a heartbeat. She really has to commit to allowing the past to influence her future positively or else she will dwell in it and let her past bring her down.
Geminis love to learn and adapt, it just takes some time and elbow grease.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns are able to overcome the past because they already expected the worst, and usually, their past was nicer than they foresaw.
You see, when you expect the absolute worst almost everything is a nice little surprise when it goes better than you thought it would.
Capricorns are mentally prepared for anything, which makes it a bit of a walk in the park to appreciate things. She won’t be hindered by things that could have been worse!
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
The biggest strength of a Sagittarius is her optimism. She refuses to hold onto the past if it hinders her outlook on the future and makes it a point to see the best in every part of her past.
Sure, life’s tough and throws curve balls at everyone, but a Sagittarius will find humor in it and become her best self because of it. Nothing will hold a Sagittarius back, especially not something that happened back in the day.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Taurus is one of the most, if not THE most stubborn sign out there. When it comes to moving beyond the past, though, this is a useful trait to have.
A Taurus woman hates insecurity and her stubbornness creates a will to get past anything she could be insecure about.
It makes it easy for her to turn the past into a lesson and become confident about whatever happened back in the day. Lifehack: sometimes it helps to be stubborn!
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
To be honest, a lot of times Leos make situations less crappy in their heads to avoid dealing with an awkward or depressing memory.
It’s less harmful to their ego, but it also makes it easier to forget the past. If you make yourself think it wasn’t that bad you really won’t have much to get caught up on!
Plus, Leos love life and want to live it to the fullest. You can’t do that without accepting life isn’t all ups. There are some downs. It’s all about problem-solving for a Leo.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Life is like a competition, according to an Aries. She lives for challenges. If there’s nothing to overcome, what’s the point? For an Aries, the denser her past is the better.
She wants as many obstacles thrown her way so that she can treat them like lessons and grow as much as possible.
She may brag a bit about how many struggles she’s gotten herself through, but she sees life as a fair sport-and she wants to be a winner.
