Words aren't obscene. Actions are.

The word "f*ck" is apparently obscene to some people. But I don't get it. It's just a word. And it's a word to describe something that can be beautiful and transcendent, if you're lucky. It's not just for swearing.
But you know what is obscene?
Obscene is a one-legged child begging for food.
Obscene is when children torture a kitten.
Obscene is a mother being raped and gutted in front of her kids. By their father.
Obscene is when cancer eats a baby alive.
Obscene is a family being fire-bombed and burned to death in their beds.
Obscene is when four children watch their parents get shot in the face on their way home from prayer.
Obscene is when a woman is raped repeatedly and relentlessly by rebel soldiers, while her husband is forced to watch until they put a bullet right between his eyes.
Obscene is when a man recites a prayer while setting another man on fire. And films it.
Obscene is when companies knowingly pollute the earth in order to save a few dollars.
Obscene are the men and women who sell heroin to kids.
Obscene is a little girl being sold on the internet to be raped by some rich old man on the other side of the world.
Obscene is millions of people being wiped off the face of the earth by despots and tyrants.
Obscene is man's inhumanity to man.
So, yes, "f*ck" is a word. And it's a strong word. But if just a word stirs up more ire than all the horrible, terrible, TRULY repugnant things in our world? THAT is obscene.
