Secret Love! Did Ellen Page & Drew Barrymore Date?!
Ellen Page is out, so her dating history is under scrutiny. Did she hook up with Drew Barrymore?!
Ellen Page came out as a lesbian last week to a whirlwind of fanfare and celebration. Now, even though she's clarified her sexuality, her dating life is raising even more questions ... especially her dating life back in 2009.
Page and her Whip It co-star and director, Drew Barrymore, were very, very close during filming and promotion of the roller derby flick. But were they hooking up, too?
A Marie Claire joint interview that the ladies did back in the day is coming back to haunt them. In the spread, they held each other and kissed, and the writer noted that during the interview, they "couldn't keep their hands off of each other." Ow ow! Six years earlier, Barrymore told Contact Music in 2003, "Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual."
And, of course, the Marie Claire interview quotes are raising a few more eyebrows now than they did back then.
For instance, Barrymore gushed, "Ellen has such a beautiful body, and I personally battled with my own body image for years. I used to tell myself, 'You can't wear anything sleeveless or strapless.' And all of a sudden I was like, 'What if I just didn't send such negative messages to my brain and said, wear it and enjoy it?' And now I'm more comfortable in clothes than ever."
Page quipped, "That openness. It's so sexy."
Barrymore couldn't contain herself, adding, "She was in her frickin' bra with an open jacket and hot-pink shorts, skating around the rink with red lips and ..."
Page cut her off and interjected, "I was having a really good time."
Sounds like they may have been having a really really good time. Still, there isn't definitive proof that the starlets were sapphic together back then. It could've just been a girl crush!
