People With Zero Tolerance For Negativity Refuse To Deal With 7 Behaviors From Anyone In Their Lives
ShotPrime Studio / Shutterstock Is the glass half-full or half-empty? As someone who always believes it is half-full, I struggle to spend time with people who are more likely to believe the opposite.
Negative people can be quite draining, and life is too short to spend time with people who don’t fill up your cup (no pun intended). Positive people know that tolerating certain behaviors will only allow negativity to spill over into their own lives, and they refuse to let that happen.
If someone has zero tolerance for negativity refuse, they'll refuse to deal with these behaviors from anyone
1. Chronic complaining
Everybody complains from time to time. It’s actually healthy. Complaining is a form of communication with positive benefits such as releasing stress and connecting with others. However, over-complaining is a toxic behavior.
When people complain about mundane things, it can bother other people. For example, complaining about being stuck at a red light or a store being out of the article of clothing you want to buy can be annoying. Little things like that don’t matter in the grand scheme of things, and when people have big things going on, they don’t want to hear about your minuscule problems. It’s also exhausting to always have to make somebody else feel better.
2. Blaming others

Blaming others for our own problems is unfortunately easy to do and way more common than we like to believe. It’s a type of defense mechanism that we subconsciously use as humans so we don’t hate ourselves as much.
The issue with always blaming other people for our problems is that it will leave you lonely. People who can’t take accountability will only push people away. Research shows that blaming others is a sign of poor emotional regulation. People with solid emotional regulation skills are able to process their own faults. Research also shows that people who always blame others are likely to have low self-esteem and blame others to reduce shame.
Positive people don’t have time for pointing fingers. They would much rather hang out with people who can process their own shortcomings and not make it other people’s problems.
3. Gaslighting
According to psychologists, gaslighting is a “particularly insidious manipulative behaviour that includes acts aimed at controlling and altering one’s own partner’s sensations, thoughts, actions, affective state, self-perception, and reality-testing.”
Gaslighting isn’t one single behavior or personality type, according to Bellomare, Genova, and Miano. It’s a series of behaviors that accumulate over time to make somebody feel crazy and more attached to their partner than they should be. Gaslighting lowers self-confidence, so victims start to rely more on their partner. It also results in emotional distress, power imbalance, and anxiety.
People with no tolerance for negativity won't put up with gaslighting. They have higher self-confidence and can tell when they are being gaslit. They trust themselves and if somebody is making their life more miserable, they fix it.
4. Gossiping

Unfortunately, I do love gossiping, but only when it’s harmless. I believe it’s a fun part of being a young woman and a great source of communication. However, it’s important to be careful because gossiping can turn negative very quickly.
It’s one thing to be telling a story, but it’s a whole other thing to make fun of somebody or tell a lie behind somebody’s back. Positive people have no time for the negative side of gossip. They would rather spend their time doing something that benefits them and does not hurt other people’s feelings. Why spread more negativity in the world for no reason?
5. Victim mentality
According to psychologist Josh Gressel, PhD, there is a difference between being an actual victim and just having that mentality. Those who have a victim mentality tend to make small things big things, and they believe that any minor circumstance has happened to them personally. They also believe that they don’t have the resources to get out of whatever situation they are in, or they choose not to use them.
People with no tolerance for negative behavior don’t have a victim mentality. They can shrug things off and move on. They find people with a victim complex annoying and exhausting to be around.
6. Expecting the worst

There’s nothing more annoying than hanging out with somebody who just always believes negative things are going to happen. For example, if you have one minute to catch the train, they just assume you won’t make it. If you have ambitious career goals, they will probably tell you it’s not possible.
Optimistic people are more likely to take risks than negative people because they believe that there will be a positive outcome. They don’t have time for people who do nothing but bring them down. Delusion sometimes works!
7. Not being happy for other people’s successes
Novelist Paulo Coelho wrote in The Alchemist, “I’m going to hate those who have found their treasure because I never found mine.” This quote rings true.
Negative people will be bitter about other people’s success. Instead of believing that because good things happen to other people, they can happen to them, they believe that other people’s success is something negative that has happened to them. Positive people have no time for this and would much rather celebrate their friend’s successes.
