About Dr. Cortney Warren

Dr. Cortney S. Warren, PhD, is a board-certified psychologist and author of “Letting Go of Your Ex.”

Cortney is an expert in eating pathology, addictions, self-deception, and cultural diversity in psychology. She received her clinical training at Harvard Medical School and is the Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine.

She has written almost 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and delivered more than 75 presentations on the psychology of relationships.

Not only is she a licensed psychologist who provides psychotherapy to clients, she is also a writer, speaker, educator, researcher, and media consultant. Much of her work appears in scientific journals. She has written almost 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, 7 book chapters, and 75 professional presentations in some the field’s top journals, including the International Journal of Eating Disorders, Appetite, and Obesity.

She's been recognized by the psychological community with several prestigious awards, including the 2015 Early Career Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship Program; the 2011 Theodore H. Blau Early Career Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Clinical Psychology; and the 2010 Samuel M. Turner Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity in Clinical Psychology.

Although a psychologist, she is a human first and foremost. She strives to live each day to the fullest and use the same skills that she teaches to shift unhealthy patterns in herself. Her sincerest hope is that we all see life as a journey of self-exploration and development, that we confront our pain with vigorous efforts to become empowered through difficult life experiences, and that we strive to exemplify the best of human nature — beings who can evolve through hardship with kindness, compassion, empathy, and forgiveness.
