Acting is a tough career. A lot is asked of actors with very little perceived chance of making it big.

That's why there is a ton of pressure on actors to do what they have to in order to give themselves the best possible chance at making it big.

A lot of actors come to regret some of their earlier work — even the biggest of stars, including Kate Winslet, Dakota Johnson, Emma Watson, and more — have these regrets.

1. Kate Winslet — One of your French girls scene in “Titanic” (1997)

One of the most famous scenes in one of the most famous movies of the 1990s is when Rose, Kate Winslet’s character asks Jack, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character to draw her naked, uttering her famous line “I want you to draw me like one of your French girls.”

This scene might be one of the most famous from the late 1990s blockbuster, but it is far from Kate Winslet’s favorite.

Winslet has gone on to talk about how the scene makes her feel in the decades since the movie's release, saying in a 2012 interview, “I'm not going to look. I'll be in the bar by that point… I wish I hadn't shown so much flesh, but I was young and I knew I had things to prove.”

Winslet generally takes this and many other things in stride but it’s clear that the way the scene has remained in the public consciousness bothers her and she dislikes seeing it.

2. Margot Robbie — Vat of white ooze scene in “Suicide Squad” (2016)

The Suicide Squad IP has struggled both critically and with audiences since it’s first cinematic release in 2016. Even the actors involved in the movie have been critical of parts of the movies.

Margot Robbie takes issue with a particular scene in the movies where her character, Harley Quinn, is submerged in a vat of white ooze. Margot had issues with the movie including her outfit which reportedly made her feel self-conscious, but she took particular issue with the film set of the chemical vat scene.

Robbie said of her experience during the scene, “I was choking on it underwater and I couldn't breathe, and I tried to open my eyes, and it would glaze over my eyeballs, and I could only see white. It was horrible.”

3. Emilia Clarke — Nude scene in Season 6 Episode 4 of “Book of the Stranger”

As you can imagine, nude scenes are going to be as much of a theme in this list as it was on Game of Thrones. Emilia Clarke is renowned for her role in the once upon a time darling but ultimately ill-fated HBO series Game of Thrones.

Since the airing of the show Clarke has mentioned that she disliked the nude scenes that she had to do, but one particular moment in the show is especially painful for her.

In the Season 6 episode “Book of the Stranger” Clarke is shown naked on screen so many times, that when she watched the episode with her parents (something that she admits was a mistake) her father exclaimed “Again?”

Needless to say, Clarke was embarrassed and regretted both the scenes and her decision to watch the episode with her parents.

4. Jennifer Lawrence — Sex scene in “Passengers” (2016)

In the 2016 movie “Passenger,” Jennifer Lawrence’s character has an intimate scene with Chris Pratt’s character. This would be par for the course in most movies and something that Lawrence as a professional could probably handle under ordinary circumstances, but this particular scene bothered Lawrence immensely and she immediately had regrets about it.

Lawrence was, reportedly, really nervous about the scene. Not really because of the circumstances or the way that it was going to be shot, but because Pratt was a married man and Lawrence had never had a kiss or an intimate scene with a married actor before that point.

Lawrence tried to steel herself by drinking before the scene but this only left her more anxious after the fact.

5. Maria Schneider — Sexual abuse scene in “Last Tango In Paris” (1972)

The 1972 film “Last Tango In Paris” ended up being a traumatizing and enraging event for Maria Schneider. During the movie, Schneider’s character is taken advantage of by another character in a brutal and visceral way.

Schneider was only told about the scene shortly before filming and felt pressured into doing it. While she wasn’t really assaulted, Schneider felt dehumanized, embarrassed, and enraged by the experience.

6. George Reeves — Bulletproof superhero scene in “Adventures of Superman” (1952)

George Reeves played the part of Superman in the 1950s and was recognized for the role all across the country. Reeves’ positive outlook on the role did a complete 180, however, after a particular scene inspired a dangerous encounter for Reeves with a young fan.

There were several scenes in the series in which bullets simply bounce off of Superman. The young fan of Reeves took a loaded gun to a meet and greet because he wanted to see just how bulletproof the man of steel really was.

The dangerous encounter left Reeves regretting his bulletproof scenes so much that he stopped doing such meet and greets and instead went on tour explicitly to teach children that people are, in fact, not bulletproof.

7. Dakota Johnson — Sex scenes in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” (2015)

There seem to be a lot of love scenes actors come to regret filming. Dakota Johnson starred in the 2015 movie “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which dealt with themes of sex and violence and helped to launch Johnson’s career.

In hindsight, Johnson has somewhat come to regret her portrayal in the movie, wishing not to be typecast according to her role in that movie.

Johnson also said that she found the intimate scenes embarrassing and that it seemed as though she and her costar had no chemistry.

8. Emma Watson — Hermione and Ron’s Kissing scene in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2”

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint disliked the idea of a kiss between them in the 2011 movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2” on principle.

The two had effectively grown up together through their roles in the Harry Potter movies and their relationship was very close, but definitely not that kind of close. The two were reportedly like siblings and the off-screen awkwardness definitely translated on screen.

Grint said of the scene, “I've known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship and it just felt very surreal.”
