What are HBCUs?

Historically Black colleges and universities offer two-year, four-year, and graduate-level educational programs across the U.S.

Originally founded to provide Black students with quality education, students of all races are now attending HBCUs to pursue opportunities for professional growth.

The Higher Education Act of 1965 provided more funding to the Department of Education, especially for historically Black colleges. Since then, there are 107 public and private HBCUs now accredited.

Many of their graduates have gone on to hold positions of influence across the U.S., some of which may surprise you.
