Why Was French Montana In The Hospital? New Details On His Severe Dehydration And Exhaustion

French Montana had been in the ICU for over a week due to a severe illness. The rapper experienced an elevated heart rate and intense stomach pains, which sources have deemed to be associated with severe exhaustion and dehydration due to traveling through four countries in the short span of just six days.

At the time, doctors were unclear on the exact issues the rapper was facing but planned to continue running tests and monitoring his vitals until they find out what caused the problem.

Thankfully, Montana was recently released, which begs the question: Why was French Montana in the hospital in the first place? Here's everything we know so far:

1. He posted an update video of him in ICU.

On November 25, French posted a video of his ICU room, updating his fans on his wellbeing. In the post, he captioned it: “6 days in ICU” and also attached a praying hands emoji. His hospital board in the video read: “manage pain,” noting that his pain issues were still ongoing.

2. If it weren't for his neighbors, he may not have gone to the hospital.

French Montana’s neighbors called authorities after what they reported what they thought was a burglary at the Montana residence. When police arrived, it was a false alarm; however, police noticed that Montana was having medical issues and called the paramedics.

Had French's neighbors not called the police, who knows what could have happened to him.

3. According to dispatch audio, law enforcement thought French was intoxicated.

In the 911 dispatch audio, a majority of the recording is redacted but in the tail end of the audio, we hear the word “intoxicated.”

Allegedly, Montana was asleep in a bedroom of his Calabasas home when cops arrived, and he reportedly began yelling when police approached him because he felt disoriented and then collapsed. The police called for an ambulance around 1:30 p.m., and he was taken to San Fernando Valley Hospital.

4. Megan Thee Stallion visited him in the hospital.

Fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, 24, paid a visit to French on Monday and even shared the visit with her Instagram followers. On her Instagram story, she and French were in good spirits and she told him: “Get your motherf—— ass out this motherf—— bed and go home,” prompting French into laughter.

5. His third studio album was released on December.

French shared a trailer for his upcoming album on September 23rd and announced his third studio album "Montana" was expected to be released sometime this month, but no concrete date had been set. It was believed the album was going to drop around his birthday on November 9th, but it was eventually released on December 6th.

The album features singles he released this year including "Writing on the Wall" featuring Post Malone, Cardi B, and Rvssian; "Slide" featuring Blueface and Lil Tjay; "Wiggle It" featuring City Girls; and "Suicide Doors" featuring Gunna.

6. He was supposed to perform for iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball On December 1st.

Due to his prolonged stay in the hospital, French canceled his appearance at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball on Sunday December 1st at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Other artists who appeared included Sam Smith, Lizzo, Normani, Why Don't We and AJ Mitchell.

French also has five other upcoming Jingle Balls booked up until December 22nd. Let’s hope he recovers soon.

7. He's since been released.
