getty When you call someone “scathing,” you mean they’re super critical, sarcastic, harsh, bitter, and insensitive. People who are scathing don’t try to endear themselves to others nor do they hold back on their comments.
It takes a certain kind of personality to be scathing. If you shy away from confrontation or injuring people with your words, you’re not likely to be this way. The same is true in astrology, and there are certain harsh zodiac signs who don't always choose their words wisely.
You never want someone in a position of power or someone reviewing your work to be scathing. They’re not going to be gentle with you and they probably won’t take your feelings into consideration; insteady, they’re going to say whatever they want without censorship.
If you have a scathing element to your personality, you’re bright and you don’t suffer fools lightly. It’s very important to you to say what’s on your mind, and if you have to keep it to yourself, it’s painful. Often times, this trait is used to keep people from getting too close. If everyone is scared that you’ll say something pointedly mean, they’re going to keep their distance.
1. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
Yes, Virgo can be sensitive and understanding, but they can also cut your emotions in ribbons. They seem to instinctively know exactly what to say that will hurt the most.
As they tend to be extremely critical of themselves and others, it's not a far leap to see them as being bitter, stinging, and full of scorn with their comments. The negative side of the Virgo personality is that they can be overcritical, perfectionistic, and harsh.
2. LEO (July 23 - August 22)
Leos so warm and generous, it may be impossible to see them as ever being scathing, but they definitely have the ability (and sometimes the desire) to let out some severely critical comments. If they're feeling frustrated that people aren't living up to their expectations, they can get patronizing, pompous, and intolerant.
Most Leos aren't shy about expressing what they think and feel. Leos are fierce, and sometimes that fierceness is expressed with ferocious comments.
3. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
Bite a Scorpio and they're going to bite back, even if that attack is imagined. Scorpios are extremely honest, even when that honesty may hurt others. If Scorpio is coming from a place of hurt, they will want to make sure that others are hurting too.
They can get jealous, resentful, and when they do, they're not going to hold those feelings inside without expressing them. Also, Scorpios are sharp, and they know exactly what to say that will twist the knife in a little deeper.
4. CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
It may be hard to believe that sweet, sensitive Cancer has a scathing edge to them, but like Scorpio, they will strike out if they want to make someone else hurt the way they've been hurt. A scathing comment almost hurts more if it comes from a Cancer because it's so unexpected.
You may have no idea what you did to deserve their wrath, but you know you must have done something because Cancer will say a scathing comment and you will barely recognize them.
5. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries are so fun and great, but there are times when something sets them off and they're blunt to the point of detriment. Aries are quick-tempered and it's not that they can say something scathing, it's the way they react without considering the consequences.
The Aries individual will be over whatever negative thing they were going through long before the object of their scathing comment is. It will almost seem unreal when they say something scathing one moment, and the next, asking if you got that package they sent.
