When most people use the word paranoid, they use it in a looser sense, like someone who is extremely suspicious or who believes there are secret conspiracies out to get them. For our purposes, we mean the paranoid in a general, conversational way.

The paranoid zodiac signs all have these thoughts from time to time. They have days where absolutely everything goes wrong and they wonder if someone is plotting against them. Maybe they're really careful about where they put their things, and when they find them out of place, they might believe someone has ulterior motives.

Like all things in astrology, we have to consider what specific personality traits may have someone thinking this way. For instance, it’s natural to be suspicious of strangers, as it’s hard to know when someone is just trying to help or if they have an ulterior motive. It can be challenging to accept kindness from a stranger because it’s hard to trust that you won’t have to pay for it in some way.

1. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)

Scorpios are secretive, suspicious, and sensitive — all of which can factor into feelings of paranoia. They can be manipulative, so it's not surprising when they're on edge or suspicious that someone may be trying to manipulate or coerce them in some way.

The more suspicious they are, the more stressed out they get. Their paranoid thoughts can cause them to feel intense emotions, anxiety, and worry. Scorpios may see danger where there isn't any.

2. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)

For Virgos, their natural gift at research and looking things up on the internet can cause them to feel paranoid. Virgos are all about the background check, finding out as much as they can about the person they're about to meet — a potential new boss or a blind date.

Sometimes they get carried away and go too deep, and instead of calming their fears, it can make them even worse. Sometimes, Virgo's research backfires on them, and they come off as shady and untrustworthy.

3. ARIES (March 21 - April 19)

Aries individuals can't stand it when people lie to them. In fact, they hate it so much that they assume people are going to lie to them, which makes them paranoid.

Aries will look for signs they're being betrayed or that people are out to get them. It's difficult for them to trust people and it can take a long, long time for them to do so. Once Aries get on that paranoia train, it's hard for them to get off, and it can affect how they feel and how they act.

4. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)

Capricorns can get paranoid when it comes to work. If they don't get credit for a project they headed or there's someone younger and smarter moving up the ranks, Capricorn may feel they're being replaced.
