Mally Mal was born Jamal Rashid on July 7, 1977. He is a 42-year old rapper and music producer. He became famous after he started his own label,  Mally Mall Music and Future Music. "You’re a beautiful soul. You helped me change my life. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. I think you should leave Vegas and come out here, and just leave all that behind and leave all that fast money, all that. Even if it’s legal or not, there’s still a thin line in life between ethical and unethical," he said.

In addition to working with top-rated artists, Mall produced an award-winning documentary with 50 Cent titled 2 Turntables and a Microphone: The Life and Death of Master Jam J. Since then he released his debut album Mally's World in 2017.

1. Ex-star on Love & Hip Hop

Mally Mall was a star on the VH1 TV show Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. Currently in its fifth season, the reality TV show premiered on September 15, 2014. The show follows “newcomers and returning series veterans striving to claim their place as Hollywood’s elite.”

Mall was introduced in the first season of the show as a special guest. He was the record producer who was dating Nikki Mudarris. The pair first began dating in 2012 but was known for having an off and on relationship. Their relationship officially ended in 2015 after Mall leaked a sex tape of the duo. Mudarris proceeded to file a restraining order against the music producer. TMZ obtained court documents that showed Mudarris accusing Mall of threatening to blackmail her, destroying her property and hitting her.

Her request was granted by a judge.

2. FBI Swat team raided his home

Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019, the FBI surrounded Mall's home in the San Fernando Valley of California and served him with a search warrant. According to TMZthe raid was a part of a double investigation for human trafficking and trafficking of exotic animals. The investigation started nearly nine months ago. The rapper is well-known for collecting exotic animals including pit bulls, snakes and monkeys. His Instagram page shows him admiring monkeys, wildcats and other exotic animals on video.

According to Daily Mail, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health first launched an investigation against Mall in 2016 after he brought his capuchin monkey, Lil Bubs to a strip club. In California, it is illegal to possess wild monkeys of any kind and keep them as pets.

3. Confiscated an endangered monkey

During the raid, Captain Patrick Foy of the California Department of Fish & Wildlife told TMZ that the authorities had seized a cotton-top Tamarin monkey from Mall's home. Although it has not been confirmed, it appears that this is the same monkey that Mall gifted to rapper Swae Lee. When Mall first received the monkey he posted a video on Instagram letting Swae Lee know that his "baby girl was here". In his caption he asked his followers to help Swae Lee come up with names for his new daughter. In a January 2018 Instagram post, Swae Lee can be seen holding a small monkey. The caption for the post read "2018 is already looking fabulous."

4. He is being investigated on human trafficking claims

In addition to being accused of trafficking exotic animals, a lawsuit was filed against the rapper a while ago. According to TMZ, the lawsuit was filed by three Nevada prostitutes "who are asking a judge to declare the State's prostitution law unconstitutional on grounds it violates the 13th Amendment which prohibits slavery." According to one of the prostitutes, she became an employee of Mall's after responding to a job posting by one of Mall's other employees. The woman claimed that the company was named VIP Entertainment and is just one of various shell companies under which Mall covers his escort services.

"Mally Mall was entering the music industry and he was recognized as a major pimp in the illegal sex trade in Las Vegas," she said.

Mall's attorney Steve Sadow had something to say on the matter. "This is simply a nonsense lawsuit, and as such, the allegations against Mally Mall are not deserving of further comment," he told TMZ.

In October 2019, Mally Mal pleaded guilty to running a prostitution ring in Las Vegas from 2002 to 2014. He advertised the services of his prostitutes on the website Backpage.com. While prostitution is legal in some Nevada counties, it is not legal in Clark County, where Las Vegas is. He pleaded guilty to one count of use of an interstate facility in aid of unlawful activity. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 21.
