Vlogger Cameron Dallas spent Saturday night behind bars after he allegedly punched a man in the face at a Colorado hotel.

The police were called to the Hyatt Residence Club Grand Aspen just after 5 a.m. Saturday, where they found a man "bleeding from injuries to his face," according to the press release. The man told police Dallas had assaulted him.

The 24-year-old social media star was arrested and charged with felony second-degree assault with intent to cause bodily injury but claimed he was just acting in self-defense.

"Unfortunately sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about, have a safe and happy new year, 2019 is going to be an amazing one," he wrote to his 21.2 million followers on Instagram along with a  photo of his mugshot.

Dallas, who was staying at the 4-star hotel, was taken to the Pitkin County Jail, where he was released after posting a $5,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court Jan. 22.

Dallas was born in San Bernardino, Calif. but raised in Chino by his mother. 


2. He became famous via Vine.

Dallas got his start on Vine (may it rest in peace) years ago, creating funny 6-second clips for his millions of followers. Once the app officially shut down, he switched to posting videos on YouTube.

Now, the young star has over 5.7 million subscribers to his channel.


3. His sister is famous, too.

The Dallas siblings know how to run social media. His sister, Sierra Dallas, is also quite famous on The 'Gram, with 1.3 million followers. She recently announced her and her husband are expecting a baby girl, making Cam an uncle!

4. He recently released a song.

Dallas, who signed a recording contract with Columbia Records in 2018, just released the song "Why Haven't I Met You?" two months ago. The single has over 4.4 million views on his YouTube channel.

It's not his first song, though. On April 20, 2015, Dallas released his debut single “She Bad." He was also featured on Daniel Syke's "All I Want Is You."

5. He's starred in a few films as well as his own Netflix series.

Dallas appeared in the major film Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) with Seth Rogan and Zac Efron, Expelled (2014) and starred alongside his friend Nash Grier, who is also a YouTuber who started out on Vine, in The Outfield (2015). He also landed a role in two episodes of NBC's American Odyssey in 2015.

Dallas stars in the Netflix series Chasing Cameron (2016), where viewers "go behind the scenes with social media sensation Cameron Dallas as he takes his career to the next level on an international tour." The show currently has one season composed of 10 episodes.


6. He has won multiple awards for his social media presence.

In 2014 and 2015, Dallas won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Viner. He also took home a Teen Choice Award for Choice Web Star: Male in 2015 as well as a Teen Choice Award for Choice Social Media King in 2016. He was nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite Social Media Star in 2016, which he won the next year.
