Instagram The Duggar family is no stranger to controversy, and now a new scandal has rocked the infamous Christian clan. Jana Duggar's rumored ex-boyfriend, Caleb Williams, is facing sexual assault charges including two counts of sexual abuse against a minor.
The latest scandal follows the massive shake-up the Duggar family saw back in 2015, when a police reports surfaced detailing Josh Duggar's molestation of multiple young girls, including his sisters, in the family home between 2002 and 2003.
Now, Duggar-adjacent Williams, 24, has been accused sexually assaulting an underage victim between 2015 and 2016. Jana Duggar, 28, was rumored to have been romantically involved with Williams last year.
Williams was arrested on November 26 in Logan County, Illinois, according to court documents obtained by Radar. Who is Caleb Williams?
1. Sexual assault
According to the court documents, Williams has been charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse that took place "on or between May 29, 2015 and August 1, 2016" in Williams' hometown of Logan County, Illinois.
Williams has also been charged with a second, more severe count in which he is accused of "placing his penis in the vagina" of the victim. In both cases, Williams is accused of assaulting a victim “who was at least 13 years of age but under 17 years of age.”
2. Relationship with Jana
Jana Duggar was rumored to have been romantically linked to Williams last year, although neither party confirmed the rumors. Unlike many of her siblings, Duggar has forgone the family tradition of courtship in favor of modern dating and relationships. Williams was frequently spotted accompanying the famous family throughout late 2017. However, Williams later denied the rumors in a since-deleted Facebook post, writing, "Now to clear the fog and avoid any confusion: Read my lips. I am not dating Jana Duggar."
3. Duggar connections
Beyond his rumored courtship with Jana, Williams has other connections within the family. According to InTouch, he apparently works with disgraced Duggar son Josh, who rocked the family when his own sex scandal broke in 2015.
4. College
According to a revealing gallery last year in which Ok Magazine called Jana's rumored new fling a "rebel" with "more than a few skeletons in the closet," Williams attended college overseas, unlike the homeschooled Duggar clan.
5. Not guilty
Williams has entered a plea of not guilty. According to Radar, he remains under probation and was ordered to have “no contact with anyone under the age of 18." He has been ordered to remain in his home state of Illinois until his next court date in January. The Duggar family has yet to comment.
