Sorry, Jerika fans, it's over. YouTubers Jake Paul and Erika Costell have officially broken up.
Jake announced the split in a lengthy and heart-filled statement on Twitter Wednesday.
"Sadly, Erika and I broke up a while ago and since then, we have been doing our best to work it out and find a solution," he told his 3.38 million followers. "After many discussions & some serious soul searching, it became apparent to us weeks ago, that we could no longer be boyfriend and girlfriend. While it was a truly heartbreaking decision, it is the healthiest thing for both of us."
Jake, the brother of YouTuber Logan Paul, had nothing but kind words for his ex, saying that she is a "beautiful soul & truly changed my life."
The couple has had a very complicated relationship, which they even claimed was fake at one point. They made their relationship official on April 26, but they had seemingly been in an undefined relationship for over a year. They even pretended to get married in Vegas when Jake "proposed" to Erika with a ring pop in June 2017.
It's been a confusing ride for all of us trying to keep up with the former lovebirds.
The breakup comes shortly after Shane Dawson's in-depth documentary "The Mind of Jake Paul" about the vlogger's life, including his relationship with Erika. Rumors were circulating about an alleged breakup for a while, but the pair hadn't announced the split publicly until now.
They weren't meant to be, it turns out, and fans are heartbroken. Shane took to Twitter just after Jake posted the sad news to joke about a new episode of his documentary series regarding the split.
"just when i started enjoying my break! Alright.... Andrew grab the camera. i’ll call the uber," he tweeted Wednesday.
But KSI, who has had a beef with the Paul brothers for quite some time, did not hold back and used some very strong words when commenting on Jake and Erika's breakup.
In case you weren't aware, Logan and Jake had a huge falling-out when the older Paul bro "stole" Jake's ex-girlfriend Alissa Violet. KSI stirred the pot by hinting Logan is going to repeat history, this time with Erika. Rude.
Jake, and especially his brother, is no stranger to hate. Let's hope the heartbroken vlogger can block out the haters and focus on the positive things in life at this trying time in his life.
Erika has not commented on the break-up.
