Anyone who grew up with a television knows how great a show Happy Days was. But one of the stars was none other than Arthur Fonzarelli, also known as Fonzie. Every dude in the Western hemisphere probably tried to be as cool as the Fonz, donning leather jackets and slicked-back hair, attempting to pick up chicks.
But what you may not have known is that behind the camera, Winkler had a personal life all his own, one that was often in the spotlight due to his sudden fame as the Fonz. While it was hard to raise a family while dodging fans looking for autographs, the woman at his side stood through it all. So, just who is Henry Winkler’s wife? Here are 5 things to know about Stacey Weitzman.
1. They met in a clothing store.
In 1976, Stacey was working in a clothing store for one of her PR firm’s clients. Henry was looking for a sport coat and asked Stacey for help. He came back a week later to pick the coat up, and asked her out!
2. They’ve been married for 40 years.
The couple married in 1978 after dating for two years, and wed in a Manhattan synagogue. But because of his fame, people were constantly rushing up to him for autographs, not paying any mind to his wife.
According to Stacey, “People would rush up to Henry and literally walk over my feet. One time I said, ‘You’ve just completely ruined my stockings.’ And this woman said, ‘But I love Fonzie!’”
3. They have two children.
Daughter Zoe was born in 1980 and son Max came along in 1983. Zoe is a preschool teacher while max is a director whose credits include Ceremony, New Girl, The New Normal, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
But just because their father is famous, don’t think for a minute that they grew up with the glitz and glam. “We had dinner together every night. If there was a PTA meeting, Henry went,” Stacey said. And according to daughter Zoe, “Dad took me to school every day of my life until I was 16 and got my license.”
4. Winkler is her second husband.

Stacey was married to entertainment lawyer Howard Weitzman. They met in 1968, married in 1970, and divorced in 1976. They have a son, Jed Weitzman, meaning Henry acts as his stepfather. Her ex-husband later remarried in 1981 and had a son with his second wife.
5. She’s a breast cancer survivor.
In 2001, Stacey was diagnosed with breast cancer, soon after Zoe went to college. Though she was treated, the cancer came back a few years afterward. She then underwent a double mastectomy and has been living cancer-free ever since.
