Why Blow Jobs are a Woman's Ultimate Source of Power

I've quoted her before, and I'll quote her again. In the infamous words of Samantha Jones a la Sex and The City: "You men have no clue what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, jaw stress, suction, and gag reflex. All the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothin'."

I have to say, I've never heard a more perfect summation of what it means to give head in my entire life — and I'd venture to say that a lot of you ladies out there would agree. All slang-terms aside though, it really is a job and should be acknowledged as such.

But beyond just being a difficult sexual act, albeit a selfless one to boot, what is it about giving men blow jobs that's so empowering? Let's discuss.

1. Performing oral sex is a totally selfless act.

Even if you enjoy it (because let's face it, some women really do look at it as a chore), I don't believe there's any medical evidence to support you can possibly derive an orgasm from it, which eliminates the idea of mutual sexual pleasure.

The power comes from the notion that you're doing something entirely for someone else. In layman's terms, if you blow your man, it can definitely be considered your good deed of the day. As naturally nurturing creatures, women take pride in being caregivers.

Now, before I continue, I'd like to get something off my chest. In no way is it considered societal bylaw that you have to perform oral sex on your partner. He isn't going to leave you or consider you less of a woman if you don't. All sexual acts, oral or otherwise, should be entirely consensual and in no way feel forced. I'm merely making an observation on what I believe a positive outcome of giving blow jobs can be.

2. There's a certain level of "look what I can do" involved in giving men head.

Now, I'm not speaking for all men, but in my experience and from the tales of others, the act of giving a blow job seems pretty mesmerizing to most guys.

It's as if when we perform the act, we become these mythical creatures. Generally, a blow job can put an end to any argument. I'm not suggesting you should use blow jobs as a "sexual weapon" to always get your way, but maybe keep it in your artillery just in case.

3. It's incredibly empowering.

My third reason actually works for both men and women alike but it's a better argument when it comes to the gentleman. Men obviously can't perform oral sex on themselves (that would take some serious flexibility) but because of that fact, they crave it that much more.

Knowing that you can supply something that's highly in demand is empowering, both in business and the bedroom. You're looked at as someone who can provide a pleasurable service, and that can be really incredibly exciting.

4. It's a skill you should be proud of.

Blow jobs are not easy. They can be uncomfortable in a multitude of ways, especially if you have a sensitive gag reflex. Women are human after all, and with that, they should take pride in all of their skills, and that certainly includes their skills in the bedroom.

Being proud of a skill and subsequently being empowered by that pride doesn't have to be reserved for academics or career based achievements. Sex is obviously meant to be enjoyed by all parties involved. If you can add a boost of self-esteem to that enjoyment, then why not?
