Jodie Foster and her girlfriend of less than a year got hitched over the weekend. The lucky gal is photographer and actress Alexandra Hedison. We know, we were shocked that they were able to keep it under wraps and away from the paparazzi's prying eye.

E! broke the news of the ladies making it legal.

We know plenty about Foster, 51 and an Oscar winner that has been actively working since the '70s and who came out during an acceptance speech at the 2013 Golden Globes, despite the fact that her sexuality was hardly a secret. She was coupled with Cydney Bernard from 1993 to 2008, and they share two sons, Charles (born 1998) and Kit (born 2001). But what about Hedison?

Let's get acquainted, shall we? Turns out she comes from a somewhat famous family and if you are a fan of Showtime cable TV shows, you might recognize her. Let's learn more about the woman Foster wifed up.

1. She is 44.

Hedison was born on July 10, 1969 in Los Angeles. She is six-and-a-half years younger than her beloved.

2. She appeared as Dylan Moreland on the long-canceled Showtime drama The L Word.

Ah, remember The L Word? The program had so much drama and sex that it made Sex and the City look like Sesame Street. The series followed the lives and loves of lesbians learning and lusting in Los Angeles. The show starred Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey. Hedison's character Dylan Moreland was loved up with Rachel Shelley's Helena Peabody, even attempting to extort the rich Brit at one point. Hedison appeared on seasons 3, 4 and 6.

3.  She is a photographer.

Hedison is a pretty prolific snapper and has held exhibitions of her work in L.A., the U.K. and beyond.

4. Her father is an actor.

That'd be David Hedison. Most of his work has been on serial TV, like Charlie's Angels, The Love Boat, Fantasty Island, The A-Team and more. So, yeah, her dad was on TV during the '70s and '80s golden age.

5. Her ex is Ellen DeGeneres.

Hedison dated Ellen DeGeneres from 2001 to 2004, after Ellen split with Anne Heche. Remember that relationship? In an act of unfortunate timing, Hedison and DeGeneres appeared on the cover of gay publication The Advocate, which landed on stands after they broke up. The photo spread was done by Hedison and the couple was happy and together when they committed to the feature. Their split was amicable, and in their statement, they spoke lovingly of one another.
