Desperate times call for desperate measures, and at this point, few stars are as desperate as Miley Cyrus. The parched erstwhile Hannah Montana starlet is relying on hypersexual shock gimmicks for her Bangerz tour, perhaps to compensate for her inability to practice any actual choreography beyond sticking out her oft-coated tongue and arching her back to painful proportions.
Her latest attempt to shock and awe audiences it to faux-fellate a guy in a Bill Clinton mask during "Party In The U.S.A."
Dude, seriously?
Cyrus was six years old when the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal went down (teehee) in 1998. Chances are, she doesn't quite grasp the implications of the impeachable offense that took place.
Unfortunately for Miley Cyrus, the tactics aren't paying off. Sure, she's being talked about — but she's not profiting much, because she's simply not a big seller.
Forbes reports that despite a ton of buzz from her controversial 2013 MTV Video Music Awards debacle with Robin Thicke, by the time Cyrus' Bangerz tour tickets actually went on sale, Google searches for "Miley Cyrus" dropped by 80 percent, back to the same level it had been at in 2012. Even worse? The average secondary market price for Bangerz tour tickets is currently $182 — a steep drop from over $225 just two months ago.
Any publicity may be good publicity, but unfortunately for Cyrus, that doesn't translate to good sales. Perhaps if she showed the actual Bill Clinton more respect, she'd learn a thing or two about making money from him.
