People Who'd Rather Just Hang Out With Their Significant Other Usually Say 6 Phrases In Casual Conversation
LightField Studios / Shutterstock Ah, the honeymoon phase, aka the most controversial of stages in a relationship. It’s great for the couple and can feel incredibly euphoric, but it can also be beyond annoying for their friends and family. All of a sudden, they start canceling plans so they can stay in with their significant other, and your best friend is no longer there.
If they're lucky, they may even prefer hanging out with their one person many years into the relationship. When that's the case, you'll frequently hear them say some specific things on a regular basis as they make it clear they always want to be together.
People who would rather do nothing but hang out with their significant other usually say these phrases in casual conversations
1. "I don't think I can make it out tonight"
There’s a natural point in life where you stop wanting to go out to the club every weekend and would rather stay home. Those who are in exclusive relationships like to cancel plans to stay in.
Psychologist Bruce Y. Lee explains that exclusivity can “bring more certainty, comfort, safety, trust, intimacy. and connection.” Those in committed relationships like to just stay in and hang out with their partner instead of going out and having to socialize with new people.
2. “Can we make it a double date?”

People who like to spend time with their significant others will try to make things couple activities whenever they can. They will try to arrange a double date even when it wasn’t originally planned.
This can be a lot of fun, especially if you know your friends are always down for a double date, and it's nice to have your partner know your friends. You have to be careful, however. If you make something a double date and your friend isn’t really feeling it, it might cause a rift in your friendship, so it’s important to be careful.
3. “Let me check with my SO”
Again, this can be healthy in context, because you should check in with your partner when you need to be considerate of their time. At other times, though, it can be a sign of an unhealthy relationship in which one partner is being controlling.
At the same time, if someone genuinely prefers to hang out with their significant other than with anyone else, they may use needing to ask for permission as an excuse. Just because their partner is their favorite person, that doesn't mean they want to hurt anyone else's feelings or make them feel rejected. Saying they need to go check can give them a chance to pause and come up with a reason that leaves everyone feeling good about the situation.
4. “My significant other would would love this!”

People who would rather spend time with their partner than other people often find themselves talking about their significant other without even realizing it. If they’re out with their friends and something reminds them of their beloved, they can't help but let everyone else know what their sweetie would think of it.
Although this can get annoying if done constantly, it's a sweet sign that somebody actually likes their person, and that's exactly how it should be.
5. “I haven’t really been going out recently”
I’ve heard this one pretty often from my friends who are in relationships. When someone invites them to do something fun, they say they would rather just stay in than go out.
A night in with their significant other gives them a better vibe than going out on the town with their friends does now. And hey, at least they’re saving money!
6. "My partner is my best friend"

Isn’t this the mark of every great relationship? When you find the right person to build a life with, they're hopefully not only your romantic ideal, but they become your best friend and favorite confidante as well.
People who love nothing more than just hanging out with the person they love don't mean to leave anyone else out. They're just fortunate enough to have found the person they genuinely prefer spending time with over anyone else. Must be nice, huh?
