When 16 and Pregnant premiered in 2009, we got a glimpse into the lives of teenagers who were struggling with one of the most difficult things a 16-year-old can go through: pregnancy. The show eventually produced the hit spin-off series, Teen Mom, which followed the same girls from the original show. One of those teens was Chelsea Houska and her ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind.

Who is Adam Lind? When we first met Houska, she Lind were preparing for a child. Her episode gave us a small taste of the fighting and toxic environment no teenager should experience, especially while expecting.

Houska eventually gave birth to daughter, Aubree, and in 2012, she and Lind broke up. Houska went on to marry Cole DeBoer, with whom she has two children.

But just because Lind is the father of their daughter doesn’t mean he’s very involved in his child's life. In fact, it's DeBouer whose stepped up to the parenting plate. According to Houska, her husband has become a second father for Aubree: “I just admire how much [Cole] has taken on the dad role for Aubree. He's been above and beyond what a dad should be for her and Watson. He just really is amazing. There’s never been a time where I’ve asked for help and he says no.”

But now her ex is back in the news. After a troubled past of drugs and abuse, Lind's domestic violence charges have been dropped and the case is closed.

In 2017, Lind was arrested on four counts of domestic assault against his ex-girlfriend, Stasia Huber, who later filed a restraining order against him. He was charged with an attempt to cause bodily harm, reckless bodily injury, physical menacing, and intentional bodily harm.

Alleged his ex, “While under the influence of drugs, alcohol and steroids, he fractured my forearm, locked me in the house saying I couldn’t leave, smashed my phone, and once he realized what he had done, he broke down crying and took me to the ER. We broke up for a while after that.”

In the aftermath of the charges, Houska filed a motion for a change in parenting time. Said a source, “She wants to cut back on Aubree going to Adam’s parents’ house. She wants more of a regular grandparent visitation, not a visitation like the other parent where she has to go every other weekend. Maybe just once a month.”

Lind was eventually sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended for the two counts of failure to appear in court after he pleaded guilty. He was ordered to refrain from committing similar offenses until August 30, 2019.” He did so, and according to a clerk, he hasn’t committed any crimes in the county within the past year.

With his case now closed, Lind has returned to Teen Mom 2.

In an episode from September 2019, he made an appearance at Aubree’s softball game. And while 10-year-old Aubree was elated to see her father, Houska wasn’t too thrilled. “Oh my God, I’m uncomfortable,” she said.

Last season, Houska wanted Lind to give up his parental rights so DeBoer could adopt Aubree. But when she asked her daughter off-camera, Aubree didn’t want that. This came as a result of Lind giving up parental rights of his younger daughter, Paislee, with his ex-fiancé, Taylor Halbur, whose new husband has since adopted her.

Even Houska’s father, Randy, didn’t think it was such a good idea, adding, “I don’t think you should. She’s already got your name. Just go with the flow. Do what you’re doing. You can’t push it. If you force it, she might resent you.” The court did, however, allow Houska to change Aubree’s surname to Lind-DeBoer.

For now, let’s hope that for Aubree’s sake, Lind can stay out of trouble and actually be there and show up for his kid.
