Singer Justine Skye has obtained a restraining order against rapper Sheck Wes.

The "Mo Bamna” rapper has been ordered to stay away from Skye until a hearing date in March 2019. The singer refers to Wes as “her abuser” and pressed charges after an incident in early February when he allegedly stalked her. She is also alleging that he abused her in the past.

For his part, the rapper claims to be innocent of the charges. Despite Skye's allegations of abuse, Wes tweeted that “Once again for the record I never hit or beat up any woman.”

So, who is Justine Skye? Read on for all the details.

1. She's from New York.

Justine Skye, whose full name is Justine Indira Skyers, was born in Brooklyn in 1995.

2. She got an early start.

Skye got her start singing professionally when she recorded songs to accompany the book Rules to Rock By by Josh Farrar. The book details the life of a young musician who struggles to find herself after her family moves her from New York to Rhode Island.

Later, Skye got attention for covering "Headlines" by Drake. Her YouTube video of the song got over 2 million views.

4. She's sparked some controversy in the past.

In 2017, Skye received negative attention when she was invited to sing the National Anthem at a Brooklyn Net basketball game. In an act of solidarity with football player Collin Kaepernick's protest, she knelt during a portion of the song.

She posted a video of the event on Instagram and said “Got a bit shaky at the end.. was pretty uneasy about singing the anthem and probably won’t ever be invited to sing it again but I had to take a knee for the opening game in my city and let my voice be heard. We will not be silenced  #blacklivesmatter.”

5. She's had some drama with Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner.

Years ago, Skye was close friends with Kylie Jenner — that friendship went south when Jenner started dating rapper Travis Scott.

Scott was allegedly still romantically involved with Skye at the time.

6. She dated Sheck Wes.

Skye also had a romantic relationship with rapper Sheck Wes, though it apparently ended because of abusive circumstances. In a Twitter argument between the two musicians, Skye called Wes her abuser and stated:

“Did you forget about the time you launched my phone across the room at the Montrose hotel, slapped me in the face with money saying 'get a new one bitch,' the two hotel security guards holding you back from attacking me while I ran away. The cops coming…”

Wes went on to tweet denials, saying:  “I’ve chosen to remain silent until now out of respect for actual victims of abuse. But I cannot stand by while lies are repeatedly told about me. I never hit or beat any women and I did not beat up or jump anybody.”

7. She got a restraining order against him.

In her request to the court for a restraining order, Skye says that Wes and up to 10 other men “orchestrated a plan to stalk me and viciously beat my boyfriend and our friends in front of me in public.”

She goes on to tell the court that she “not feel safe and I believe my life is in danger.” The request was spurred by a Feb. 11 incident in which Wes followed Skye and some friends on the street and threatened to attack them. Skye posted video to back up her claim.

Wes is not allowed to be within 100 yards of Skye until their hearing next month.
