Police are searching for a California teen who disappeared without a trace two weeks ago.

Karlie Guse, 16, was last seen Oct. 13 walking near her White Mountain Estates home in Chalfant, California where she and her family recently moved. She was headed toward Highway 6.

“I don’t understand any of this," her father, Zachary Guse, told Dateline NBC. "I don’t think she would run away. I don’t believe she would. But you can’t rule anything out. I think it’s possible that someone took her. I think it’s possible she ran away.”

The teen currently lives with her dad and stepmom, Melissa Guse. They — along with Karlie's birth mother, Lindsay Fairly — are desperate to bring Karlie back home.

The Mono County Sheriff's Office believes she may be in a state of confusion.

"Karlie may be disoriented and does not have any personal belongings or cell phone with her," a Facebook post by the sheriff's office reads.

Authorities conducted a week-long ground search for the missing teen but found nothing.

"The ground search has concluded," the Mono County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "For a week we searched on foot, in all-terrain vehicles, by helicopter, and with scent dogs. We searched both during the day and with heat-sensing equipment at night. We searched for miles in all directions."

Offices received assistance from Mono Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, Inyo Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, California Highway Patrol, CalTrans, California National Guard, and El Dorado Sheriff’s Office in a group effort to locate Karlie.

Police have not held a press conference in a week because there is nothing new to relay. Officials are seeking the public's assistance in the case, although they are not asking for volunteers in the search. Instead, they are asking that people share Karlie's photos and all social media posts regarding her disappearance.

“We understand and appreciate the desire to help, but please allow the professionals to do their work without interference and distraction," the Mono County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. "Thank you to everyone who shared this post. Please continue to spread the word and increase awareness of Karlie.”

Authorities have not released many details about the case's progress as the investigation continues.

"This is an open and ongoing investigation, and we will not discuss our investigative tactics," the Mono County Sheriff's Office stated.

The Guse family has offered a $10,000 reward for Karlie's safe return.

“I never thought I’d be dealing with this," Lindsay told Dateline NBC. "It was always my worst nightmare — whose isn’t — to have a child missing. I don’t have enemies, but if I did, I wouldn’t wish it on them.”

Karlie was added to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. An AMBER alert was not issued as she does not fit the criteria. There there is no evidence or indication of an abduction, police say.
