Do you know your score? Turns out, it's no longer just freecreditscore.com, your landlord or employer who want to know. It's your date too. Talk about a sexy topic of conversation at the dinner table ...

A recent article in the New York Times discovered that credit scores are playing a larger role in dating decisions, sometimes more so than shared interests.

Take Jessica LaShawn, a 31-one-year-old woman who was turned down by her date because of her bad score.

“It was really awkward because he kept telling me that I was the perfect girl for him, but that a low credit score was his deal-breaker,” she told the Times.

Manisha Thakor, the founder and chief executive of MoneyZen Wealth Management, a financial advisory firm compared dating scores to STDs. “It’s a shorthand way to get a sense of someone’s financial past the same way an STD. test gives some information about a person’s sexual past,” he explained to The Times.

Sure, a bad credit score can reveal something important about someone's history — but should we make assumptions? Would it be fair to say that everyone who has or had an STD was promiscuous and irresponsible? Just like there is with STDs, there's surely a stigma surrounding bad credit scores.

But on a first date, should it be a red flag as it was with LaShawn's date? We looked to our Twitter followers for help on this one. @girl_ninja says, "Not at all. It's how they manage their money now."

Others feel a low score indicates behavior beyond handling just money. @PauleannaR tweeted, "If he isn't capable of prioritizing his own life, I don't trust him with my mine. Ultimately 2 becomes 1."

What do you think? Have you ever dated someone with a low score? Is it a dealbreaker for you?
