About Audrey Tait

I am a psychotherapist/counselor, dietitian, author, writer, speaker, and photographer. I bring my personal experience and professional training into everything I do, from counseling one-on-one to writing, to speaking, to heading into the backcountry with my camera. Find more about me on my website. My company, Inspirational Insights Counseling, Inc., is my way of sharing my gifts and experiences with others.

Life has taken me down some interesting and some not-so-interesting paths—including a few areas I would rather not have explored. Yet my journey and my heritage are what define me. It is on this journey that my greatest passions have developed; it is why I can do whatever I do with passion, whether it be counseling, speaking, writing, or stepping into the outdoors with my camera in hand. My past trauma and eating issues, and the healing that has come from these struggles have led me to seek the training that now allows me to do the work I do. I have learned that I need to believe in myself, love myself, and look after myself. No one else can do it for me. As an introvert, I need time by myself to regenerate. At times, this means being alone in nature; at other times, it is simply being alone at home. Either way, being quiet with my own thoughts, in periods of peace and serenity, is my goal.

You can find my books I Am Wonderfully Me: Positive Affirmations for Me! Volumes 1–3, Reflective Meditations Trilogy: Understanding My Trauma, Healing My Trauma, and Letting Go—Forgiveness; and Reflective Meditations Trilogy: Understanding My Authentic Self, Believing in Myself, Loving Myself, Plus Understanding My Boundaries at most online bookstores, or request them at your local brick-and-mortar store.

As a psychotherapist and dietitian, I have a Master of Science degree in Addiction Counseling (an American degree), MS; am a Certified Canadian Counselor, CCC (with the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association), Registered Dietitian, RD (College of Dietitians of Alberta) (also an American degree); Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, CSAT; Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist, CMAT, including Disordered Eating, Chemical & Alcohol/Chemical Dependency, and Financial/Work Disorders, including gambling (from the International Institute of Addiction and Trauma Professionals); Level I and II Cognitive Therapy and Diet Workshop with the Beck Institute; Level I Affect Dysregulation, Survival Defenses, and Traumatic Memory and Level II Emotional Processing Meaning Making, and Attachment Repair with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Association.

I completed my Master’s program with straight A’s and became a member of the Alpha Chi Society. Recently, I was awarded the Alberta Rose Award for noteworthy service, dedication, and commitment in the advancement of the counseling profession.

My lifestyle includes activities that are healthy, like exercise in the outdoors and healthy eating most of the time. My love for music, whether enjoying it or playing it, takes me to many different places. Whatever you do, spend time enjoying life; our brain wants to be rewarded in a positive way; if it isn’t, it will find a way to be rewarded—even negatively.
