Did Lady Gaga Just Release A New Song Called 'Stupid Love'?

Social media is ablaze with the thought that Lady Gaga — real name, Stefani Germanotta — has just leaked a new song onto the Internet.

Of course, the Queen of Pop and Mother Monster always loves keeping her Monsters happy, but she's also previously complained about her music leaking to the Internet without her permission.

So the question remains: did Lady Gaga really just release a new song called "Stupid Love"?

If she did, it turns out that her website's source code may be the culprit.

The song was leaked in a Tweet that has since been disabled "in response to a report by the copyright owner."

So for those you unfortunate enough not to have heard it today, here's what we know about what may be Lady Gaga's new song "Stupid Love."

1. Did Lady Gaga release a new song called "Stupid Love"?

Some of her fans think she did.

One intrepid fan in particular noted that the song "Stupid Love" was found embedded in the source code of Lady Gaga's official website, causing many to speculate that it was, indeed, the name of her new song.

Others were quick to point out that finding the "Stupid Love" source code in her website was a case of history repeating itself, as "Perfect Illusion", the lead single off of her 2016 album "Joanne", was also embedded in the source code of her official site.

2. There's some suggestion that "Stupid Love" will be officially released on February 7, 2020.

Another fan account noted that Radio 1, a station based in Greece, has "Stupid Love" listed on their list of UK singles being released on February 7, 2020.

Later in the day, however, the site was updated to add "not confirmed" in parenthesis next to the song's name.

3. While Lady Gaga hasn't commented on "Stupid Love," others found evidence of two additional new songs expected to be out soon.

As of this writing, Lady Gaga hasn't officially commented on "Stupid Love" and whether or not it will indeed appear on what fans have dubbed "LG6".

However, screenshots allegedly taken from the members-only website for GEMA (Gesellschaft für musikalische Aufführungs - und mechanische Vervielfältigungsrechte in German, Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights in English), which "works as the German arm of most other such societies around the globe, including America’s ASCAP and BMI and England’s PRS, effectively overseeing all copyrighted music within the country" show two new songs registered to Lady Gaga's name — "Chances" and "Feels So Good."

The screenshots show that both songs were co-written with rapper Ty Dolla $ign, Los Angeles-based producer and songwriter Tobias Gad — whose previous credits include collaborations with Madonna, Fergie, and Selena Gomez, and Tulisa Contostavlos, a British singer and former judge on "The X Factor UK".

4. Lady Gaga previously hinted to fans that she will release new music in 2020.

During the first stop on Oprah's "2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus" arena tour in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on January 4, 2020, Lady Gaga appeared as Winfrey's special guest.

Towards the end of the interview, Oprah asked, "So when is the process of creating 'LG6' happening?"

"We’re having a self-care conversation," Gaga replied, "but I’m still going to make music. Don’t worry!"

5. Lady Gaga's new album will be her first since 2016's "Joanne."

There is some speculation about what, exactly, Lady Gaga will call her new album.

Gaga herself teased she might call it "Adele" ...

Although that appears to have been sweet compliment to the singer and highly unlikely.

Regardless of what she names it, this will be her first studio album since 2016's "Joanne". This, of course, excludes her work on the soundtrack for "A Star Is Born", which is considered a stand-alone album designed specifically for promotion of the film.

6. Did Lady Gaga leak "Stupid Love" herself?

Again, neither the singer nor her camp have officially commented on the leak as of this writing. However, in 2016, while promoting "Joanne", Lady Gaga said that if her label signed an exclusive streaming deal with a digital platform like Apple or Tidal, she'd leak it herself.

"I told my label that if they signed those contracts with Apple Music and Tidal, I'd leak all my own new music," she told Zane Lowe of Beats 1 radio.

It should be interesting to see if, indeed, this is a leak of her own design.
