20 Best Skincare Products For Rosacea Treatment

Say bye bye to redness.

Rosacea is a very common skin condition that causes redness and sometimes outbreaks in the form of small, red, pus-filled bumps. These outbreaks can appear on the face, and if you have this condition, you're probably looking for rosacea treatment and relief.

According to Jaimie Glick, MD, board-certified Dermatologist, "Rosacea is a condition that involves a number of signs and symptoms including flushing, persistent facial redness, small broken blood vessels, inflammatory papules and pustules, facial swelling, and eye inflammation. The treatment of rosacea is long-term as the condition is a chronic one with frequent flares and recurrences."

But don't be discouraged just yet. The key to treatment is use of gentle skincare products that are non-irritating and anti-inflammatory, as well as avoiding triggers.

As Glick recommends, "A skincare regimen for a patient with rosacea should include use of a gentle facial cleanser like Vanicream cleanser with lukewarm water. Patients should also use a gentle moisturizer to improve skin barrier function, and regular sunscreen with SPF of 30 or higher. Those with rosacea should avoid exfoliating agents, physical scrubbing, astringents and toners, as well as products containing alcohol, witch hazel, eucalyptus oil, menthols, and fragrances, as these can trigger a flare. Cosmetic coverage with water-soluble powder, containing a light green pigment, can also be used to neutralize redness."

A number of botanical and over-the-counter products with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties may also be beneficial.

If you have rosacea, Dr. Debra Jaliman, board-certified NYC dermatologist, says to look for ingredients, like antioxidants such as grape seed extract, Resveratrol and Green Tea. But these other oils and ingredients are helpful as well:

  • Argan oil: It’s not too heavy or light of an oil, and is suitable for all skin types. “It's rich in omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and linoleic acids. These work to lightly moisturize your skin, soften dry patches, and help with rosacea.”
  • Niacinamide: “This is a B vitamin also known as vitamin B3 helps even skin tone. It is a potent antioxidant with numerous benefits.”
  • Linoleic oil: This is an essential fatty acid known as Omega 6. “Marula oil contains this acid. Marula oil is great at reducing redness and hydrating dry and irritated skin. This oil is rich in omega fatty acids.”
  • Chamomile: “This is great for conditions such as dry skin, eczema, and rosacea because of its anti-itch and anti-inflammatory properties.” Chamomile tea can be used to help treat rashes and inflammatory skin conditions.
  • Aloe: “It’s anti-inflammatory, so it helps get rid of redness associated with rosacea.”
