Did somebody say...The Masked Singer spoilers?! Yes, you heard and/or read that correctly. YourTango is about to go where very few other websites have gone before: deep diving into all things The Masked Singer Spoilers: Who is the Egg on the day of the Fox show's season two debut.
In case you missed season one or you need a little refresher (I know girl, partying is fun but she does take a toll on the ol' memory), this reality competition show puts its viewers and its judges to work, hiding each of its famous competitors behind elaborate masks (duh) and costumes, and leaving us to guess who the heck they really are. Curse you television that makes our brains work, why are you so compelling?
Naturally, the show has judges and if last season is anything to go by they don't have to do it all alone, guest judges (last Season Joel McHale joined up for a few episodes as did Keenan Thompson) make appearances too. That said, the standing cast of judges are the same as season one: Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke.
Just like the audience, all they have to help them make their best guess each episode is the singer's performance, and the clues that are also dropped throughout the episode itself. The show premieres on Fox on September 25th, so you better put your best thinking caps on and tune up those listening ears.
If last season was anything to go by guessing who the celeb is beneath the mask isn't always as easy as it seems. Just ask the season one winner T-Pain who managed to outmanever all of the other 11 contestants to become the winner of the whole shebang. While we don't have the answers about who's who just yet, we have done our homework to make it a breeze for you to figure out who each and every star behind the mask may be, before even the judges themselves are wise to their identities. The beauty of this show is that it could be virtually anyone underneath those elaborate disguises.
Luckily, the producers, though they've made it challening, do want you to be on the inside track when it comes to solving their riddles, so pay attention, don't just listen to the way they sing, listen to the clues they share about their lives too! Here's everything we know so far about the very mysterious contestant known only as...The Egg!
1. Clues
"As my mom always told me, life has an expiration date. So always work hard, to the first and last vowels of the alphabet." From this clue, we could assume the contestants initials are A and U — the first and last vowels of the alphabet. For what it's worth, here's a list of famous people with the initials A and U. Of course, Y is also sometimes a vowel.
2. Judge Guesses
The producers of the show have made it really clear that they are going to make this season super tough, and that applies to the judges, too! Judge Jenny McCarthy has a strong eye for the singers, and she's the one to watch when it comes to serious guesses about all of the identities that could be at play. Remember, she was one who shot down ideas that Jim Carrey was among the stars competing last season!
Because the Egg was so light on his feet (Jenny McCarthy went so far as to call him "fabulous") and had such killer dance moves, the judges immediately leapt to figure skaters like Johnny Weir or Adam Rippon. They also tossed around more fashionable celebs like Christian Siriano and Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness.
3. Other Guesses
Right now it seems like this righteous egghead could be a couple of different people, but there are two very plausible options. The first, is the singer and comedian Weird Al! That's right, I'm talking about Yankovich himself. The clue about the beginning and the end of the alphabet could be referring to his name for sure, plus he was tour when the show recorded last season and has been eager to particpate. Another likely option? None other than figure skater Johnny Weir! The dude loves him a strictly white ensemble plus the egg itself could be a nod to his infamous divorce where he panicked over losing a cherished (and valuable) Fabregre egg!
4. Best Guess
For my money, it's got to be Johnny. For one thing, Weird Al is a very tall man, and while the show can conceal body shape and faces and other identifying features, hiding something like Al's height would be hard to do and the egg doesn't seem to have his stature. But there's another big factor that points to Johnny. After all, the Egg "is a protein", a play on words perhaps as Johnny was the Pro Teen World Champion back in his skating days?
Y'all done heard it here first! It WAS Johnny lurking beneath that eggy veneer! He gave a great performance was sadly bested and revealed himself to the judges and the folks at home.
