1. She was known for her political reporting. 

According to CNN, Cokie Roberts first became known to the general public because of her political reporting. She was best known for her work on the ABC network. 

2. Her nickname is Cokie Roberts, but her real name is much longer.

"Roberts was born Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Boggs in New Orleans on Dec. 27, 1943. She came from a political family and throughout her childhood and young adult life, Roberts rubbed elbows with some of Washington's most prominent figures," reported NBC News, who added that her father became Speaker of the House in 1940. The outlet also added that she married Steven Roberts (which is where she got her name), a professor and fellow journalist, in 1966. They remained married until her death. They first met in 1962, when he was 19 and she was 18. Together, they had two children, including the political journalist Rebecca Roberts, who hosted the POTUS 08 podcast on Sirius XM radio.

3. As usual, Donald Trump made her death all about him. 

Deadline reports that the ever-presidential Donald Trump made Cokie Roberts' death all about him. He said that he had nothing nice to say about her, because "she was never nice to me," before stomping off to do something else completely messed up. Fortunately for all of us, President Barack Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, issued a touching statement expressing condolences to the Roberts' family. Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Former First Lady Laura Bush, also issued a kind statement in condolence. 

4. Cokie Roberts was considered a 'pioneer' in the world of political journalism.

"Fox News' John Roberts called her "a true pioneer of the business" in a Tuesday tweet. ABC News' Jon Karl shared a video from Roberts' visit to the 2016 Democratic National Convention — the last of the 22 national conventions she went to," reported The Week.

5. She also wrote a series of books.

In addition to her fine political work, The Mercury News reports that Cokie Roberts was most proud of her book career, especially her book We Are Our Mother's Daughters.
