Juicy! Brad Pitt made a surprise appearance on Friday, September 13th's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show where Ellen revealed she dated one of his ex-girlfriends. The two reminisced about where they met, and Pitt said: "I remember a Melissa Etheridge pool party, where I think you were hitting on my girlfriend." He believes that this happened in the late 80s or early 90s. Ellen responded: "Was I hitting on your girlfriend, really?" She went on to say: "I actually sense that I have dated another one of your girlfriends. We’ll talk about that later.” Pitt responded: "After the show." Which ex-girlfriend of Brad Pitt's did Ellen DeGeneres date?
We are making the assumption that this woman had to have been someone Brad dated in the 90s or 00s. Especially since Ellen has been with Portia de Rossi since 2004 and married since 2008. Given that Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie were successful actresses long before Brad dated and married them, we will include them. We are excluding anyone Brad has been rumored to have been involved with since his split from Angelina Jolie.
1. Was it Robin Givens?
Could it have been Robin Givens that Ellen hit on at that Melissa Etheridge pool party? Brad Pitt dated the actress best known for being married to Mike Tyson in 1986 and 1987. Not much is known about their relationship. He wasn't even famous yet, but there are plenty of working actors going to parties in LA and interacting with more successful entertainers. The timeline fits the pool party story but she's probably not who Ellen dated.
2. Was it Christina Applegate?
Brad dated Married...With Children star Christina Applegate in 1989. Applegate married actor Jonathan Schaech in 2001. They separated in 2005 and divorced in 2007. Interestingly, there have been rumors for years that Schaech dated Ellen. Applegate started dating musician Martin LeNoble in 2009. They got married in 2013.
3. Was it Jill Schoelen?
Brad Pitt dated actress Jill Schoelen for 11 months from May 1988 to June 1989. They were engaged from April to June 1989. Schoelen married composed Anthony Marinelli in 1993. She's been a full-time mom ever since.
4. Was it Juliette Lewis?
This one, out of all of them, seems the obvious choice. Brad dated Juliette Lewis from 1990 to 1993. He was dating her when Thelma and Louise came out and immediately made him a star. Lewis married professional skateboarder Steve Berra in 1999; they divorced in 2003.
5. Was it Julia Ormand?
It probably isn't Julia Ormand as Brad dated her in 1993. Ormond married actor Rory Edwards in 1988, and divorced him 1994. In 1999, she married political activist Jon Rubin. They divorced sometime after 2004, when Ellen was already dating Portia de Rossi
6. Was it Thandie Newton?
Brad Pitt dated Thandie Newton for about a year in 1994-1995. She's been married to British writer, director and producer Ol Parker since 1998. They have three children.
7. Was it Gwyneth Paltrow?
Somehow we cannot imagine the "consciously uncoupled" Goop founder as the woman Ellen dated. Gwyneth and Brad dated from December 1994 to May 1997. They got engaged in December 1996 and broke it off a few months later.
8. Was it Claire Forlani?
Brad Pitt and his Meet Joe Black co-star Claire Forlani dated from 1997 to 1998. She's been married to actor Dougray Scott since June 2007.
9. Was it Jennifer Aniston?
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt started dating in March 1998. They got married on July 29, 2000. They divorced on October 2, 2005 when Pitt left Aniston for his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.
10. Was it Angelina Jolie?
You know, I don't see Angelina Jolie as being Ellen's type but she has been sexually fluid in her past. Brad and Angelina got together in January 2005. They dated for seven years and married in August 2014. They separated in September 2016. Their divorce finally became final in April 2019.
