They were married for five minutes.

When newlyweds walk down the aisle, all of their plans for the future and love in their relationship comes to a head. Through tears, the bride and groom exchange vows and pledge their undying love for one another. And then, the ceremony is usually followed by a reception or a honeymoon, where the new couple set out on the next part of their journey together.
Nobody expects a wedding day to be wrought with tragedy. But one Texas couple suffered a fatal fate moments after they tied the knot.
Who are Harley Joe Morgan and Rhiannon Boudreaux Morgan? On Friday, August 23, the newlyweds left the courtroom at 3 PM, and a pickup truck immediately crashed into them on the way out of the driveway.
Though the man in the truck was uninjured, the two died at the scene. Witnesses say the newlywed’s car was “hit with such force that it rolled over several times before finally resting in a ditch on the side of the road.”

The couple were high school sweethearts and had been planning a wedding for December. They intended to leave the civil ceremony and drive to the courthouse to file their wedding certificate, legally change Rhiannon’s name, and then have a small celebration at Harley’s mother’s house.
Lawshawna, Harley’s mother, witnessed the crash as she was driving behind them. She desperately tried to remove them from the vehicle, but they were already dead.
“I watched my baby die. I’m still wearing my son’s blood because I was trying my best to rip him and her out of the car. I witnessed my own worst nightmare. That’s an image that will haunt me for the rest of my life. I won’t forget it. It will never go away. I will see that truck hit my baby and kill my baby every night of my life, the rest of the time that I’m on earth,” she said to KDFM.
Harley was 19 and Rhiannon was 20, each with their whole lives ahead of them. Harley was a night baker at Dunkin’ Donuts, but was thinking of attended college, while Rhiannon worked at Walmart and had plans to study nursing.
“The only thing they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many dreams and they wanted their family surrounding them. Life is precious. You don’t know how much longer you are going to have a person. Stop worrying about the small stuff. This should’ve been the happy-ever-after story,” Lashawna added.

According to authorities, the accident is under investigation, though it appears there was no “wrong-doing” on the truck driver’s part. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, is fully cooperating, and the drug and alcohol tests are still pending.
