Who is Clay Harbor? Clayton “Clay” Harbor, born in Libertyville, Illinois on July 2nd, 1987, stands at a whopping 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 252 lbs. He was an American football player for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints. He took a year off of football, partly due to injury and partly to appear on The Bachelorette season 14, with Rebecca “Becca” Kufrin. He made headlines for dating Bachelor contestant Angela Amezcua. He will also be in starring in 2019 season of Bachelor in Paradise. But even knowing all of this, we still need to ask ourselves, Who is Clay Harbor?

1. He was on The Bachelorette season 14

Clay Harbor was a contestant on The Bachelorette season 14 staring Becca Kufrin. He was only on for three episodes but I think I can speak for all of us when I say we caught some feelings. We were sad to see him go!

2. He was forced to leave his season of The Bachelorette

After appearing in only 3 episodes Harbor was forced to leave the show. A game of tackle football broke out between the contestants and Harbor injured his wrist. He was forced to get surgery to repair it and left the show for good. We hope you feel better Clay!

3.  He attended Missouri State

Harbor attended Missouri State University. He started his college career as a wide receiver but switched part way through to become a tight end. The difference between a wide receiver and a tight end is that wide receivers are essentially just there to catch passes. They need to be quick and nimble and be able to pull the ball out of the air. Tight Ends are considered a hybrid player, somewhere between a wide receiver and a blocker. They are needed to do more blocking on running plays, but they are still considered to be an eligible receiver and are sometimes called upon to catch the football. It is likely that Clay decided to switch positions due to his size and strength.

4. Offensive Player of the year

While at college Harbor received a lot of accolades, but most impressive is that he was a two-time Missouri State Offensive Player of the year. He received this honor during his sophomore and Junior year seasons. That’s what we’re talking about Clay!

5. He played for 5 different NFL teams over the course of his 7 year career

Clay Harbor was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010. He played as a tight end for them until his contract was up in 2013. They then released him. This was fortunate for the Jacksonville Jaguars who picked him up off waiver and signed him for their 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons. In 2016 he joined the New England Patriots after the season was over. He stayed with the team through the start of the season, but he joined the Detroit Lions in October, 2016. In 2017 he was signed to the New Orleans Saints, where he was placed on Injury Reserve. Clay Harbor can make any color jersey look good!

6. He wants to rejoin the NFL

Harbor has been heard saying that he is going to attempt to rejoin the NFL in 2019. He is currently a free agent after he took 2018 off to appear in The Bachelorette and also because of an injury. He is going to commit to three months of intense training. We hope to see you back out there on the gridiron soon!

7. Dating Angela Amezcua

Harbor was publicly dating Bachelor season 21 contestant, Angela Amezcua. Amezcua was on Nick Viall's season of the Bachelor in 2017, as well as a contestant on Bachelor in Paradise the following summer. She and Harbor seemed to have found love for a while, constantly appearing on each other’s Instagrams. There was even talk of them moving to live closer to each other. However, they surprised fans in March, when Harbor confirmed their breakup. We have faith that you’ll love again Clay!
