1. They were recently spotted together in Ireland.

JustJared recently featured a collection of photos with the two lovebirds together on a date in Killarney, Ireland. The date was particularly special, because Michael Fassbender — though German-born — grew up in the town. Alicia was snapped wearing a Lou & Grey sweatshirt, and the couple seemed quite happy and in love in the “pap snaps.”

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender have been married for a while.

2. But that “date” may be a ruse for trouble brewing in paradise.

According to RadarOnline, famed Hollywood gossip reporter A.J. Benza got the scoop about Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender’s marriage being in trouble. According to Benza, Vikander, who was recently spotted on a yacht owned by a friend during the Cannes Film Festival, has been spending more time with her friends than with her husband.

“Their marriage has had so many ups and downs in such a short period of time. Alicia was so happy to be in Cannes and thrilled to be able to be herself once again,” reported the outlet.

3. There was a more innocent reason for Michael Fassbender to not be around during Cannes.

According to the Daily Mail, there was another, more innocent reason for Michael Fassbender to not be around his wife during the Cannes Film Festival: he was working!

The outlet reports that he is currently in the process of promoting Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men film franchise, where he plays a young Magneto (opposite James McAvoy as a young Professor Charles Xavier, and opposite Sophie Turner in the title role of Jean Grae/The Dark Phoenix). In fact, he was on The Graham Norton Show to talk about reprising his role in the Marvel film franchise.

Seems like Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender getting cozy in Ireland was the “real deal” and not a ruse!
