More sad news, people. Former Amazing Race runner-up Dr. Jim Raman has died on March 12. He was just 42. He was discovered dead in his South Carolina home on Tuesday morning. His passing is unexpected and th epolice are looking into it. Lexington County Coronor Margaret Fisher told a local television station that:  “Nothing suspicious or criminal is involved with the case you are referencing and out of compassion and respect for family, my office will not comment on it.” How did Jim Raman die?

1. He was on season 25

Jim competed with his wife Misti on season 25 of The Amazing Race in 2014. He and his wife were called the "Married Dentists" during their time on the popular and long-running reality competition show. Throughout their season, they finished in first place for five of the 12 legs of the race against other teams. He was an orthodontist. His dental practice released a statement to its patients informing them of his death. “Irmo Smiles has suffered a tragic loss this week. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing for Dr. Jim Raman. As our staff and the family prepare for Dr. Raman’s celebration of life, please join us in praying for peace and comfort during this difficult time.” The statement goes on to tell patients that their appointments will be rescheduled. "Your patience is greatly appreciated as we give Dr. Misti Raman time to grieve the loss of her loving husband.”

2. What happened?

Police were called to Jim and Misti's family home on March 12th at 4:30am. He was found dead on the scene. No cause of death has been determind at this time.

3. South Carolina native

Jim Raman attended the University of South Carolina for his bachelor's degree and got his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina's College of Dental Medicine. He did his orthodontic residency in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He and his wife Misti have two children, Lexi and Jimmy. 

4. Was it suicide?

A South Carolina news outlet is reporting that Dr. Jim Raman's sudden and unexpected death may have been a sucide. They cite officials close to the investigation as their sources. No other outlet is presenting this as a possible cause of death at this time.
