Since Comedians of the World on Netflix premiered, viewers have been exposed to a variety of stand-up talents. With comics from all over the globe, including the UK, Mexico, India, and the Middle East, we can get a better sense of the unique experiences and what life is like for these comics in their regions.
Canada, in particular, has featured comics we can all relate to, including Mae Martin, Ivan Decker, and K. Trevor Wilson. Wilson has been described as a “grouchy, deadpan comic” who “settles in for more than 20 minutes of scatological humor.” But what do we know about his personal life? Just who is K. Trevor Wilson? Here are 5 details about how he got his start.
1. His stand-up career has taken off.
Wilson has appeared at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal multiple times, and won the Irwin Barker Home Grown Award. He’s also appeared at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Halifax Comedy Festival.
In addition to the stage, he’s performed on Comedy Central's Roast Battle and Jimmy Kimmel Live. His first comedy special, Bigger in Person, debuted on The Comedy Network in 2017.
2. He’s an actor.
He was a child actor who appeared on the Canadian series Goosebumps. Since then, he’s been in multiple series including What Would Sal Do?, Man Seeking Woman, NBC’s Darcy’s Wildlife, and A&E’s Breakout Kings. He also played Squirrely Dan on the show Letterkenny.
3. He released two comedy albums.
His first comedy album, SexCop Fire Penis, was released in 2015 and won Best Taped Live Performance at the 2015 Canadian Comedy Awards. His second album, Sorry! (A Canadian Album), was nominated for the Juno Award for Comedy Album of the Year in 2018!
4. He’s won numerous awards.
Aside from winning the 2012 Irwin Barker Homegrown Award, he’s been nominated the 2014 and 2015 COCA Comedian of the Year, and was named Canada’s Best Male Stand Up at the 2015 Canadian Comedy Awards. He also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 6th Canadian Screen Awards.
5. He has a girlfriend.
From social media, it appears the two have been dating since 2016. Her name is Maresa Quinn, and she seems to be incredibly supportive of her boyfriend. The two frequently post photos on Instagram of them together.
