Celebrities are no strangers to plastic surgery, and some of the biggest names in Hollywood and LA (looking at you, Kardashians) have gotten procedures for everything under the sun. Whether it’s breast augmentation, nose jobs, or liposuction, it seems to be the norm on the west coast.
Though there’s nothing wrong with enhancement procedures and cosmetic surgery, as we age, we may be more tempted to alter our bodies and retain our youth. And such might be the case for one of the most famous entertainers: Madonna.
But did Madonna get butt implants or are our eyes deceiving us?
On New Year’s Eve 2018, the singer put on a surprise performance at The Stonewall Inn in Manhattan, shocking fans as she appeared with her son, David, who was 13 years old at the time. While she sang her classic tunes, and even did a cover of Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” David provided music on the guitar.
If you look at before photos of her butt, it's nowhere near as big as it was before that New Year's Eve. Just take a look for yourself:
As video of the performance surfaced, fans around the world began scratching their heads, wondering if the songstress had started her new year with a new rear.
Some people on Twitter came for her, criticizing her appearance and her new derriere. One fan wrote in a now-deleted tweet, "I've had plastic surgery so I'm all for it in moderation BUT the doctor who did this to Madonna is (expletive) wrong for this. Is Madonna trying to be a Kardashian? I'm not trying to body shame but young girls see this. Girls don't go this far have pride in your body and what you have!"
Others, however, defended Madonna, paying attention to how she honored the LGBT community with her appearance, and how she’s still looking amazing for her age.
One fan wrote in a now-deleted tweet, "Leave Madonna alone. We will all be old one day, she has made her money and has given a great life to children that would be poverty stricken or dead if it wasn’t for her!!! She can do what she wants, she’s a great humanitarian!!!"
The singer even gave a passionate speech before her performance, saying, "If we truly took the time to get to know one another, we would find that we all bleed the same color and we all need to love and be loved. Let’s remember who and what we are fighting for – ourselves, for each other. Let’s take a minute to reflect on how we can bring more love and peace into 2019, let’s look at how we can bring random acts of kindness. Maybe we can find an opening to bring the light in. Are you ready to do that?"
Madonna obviously found out about all the speculation surrounding her possible implants and spoke out just a few days later on her alleged plastic surgery.
The singer took to Instagram with a fun selfie and the caption, "Desperately seeking no ones approval…and entitled to free agency over my body like everyone else! Thank you 2019! Its Going to Be an amazing Year." She also included the hashtags, #nofear and #nodiscrimination.
The only thing we have to say to that response is keep slaying, queen!
