Who Is Angus King's Wife? New Details On Mary Herman King

Since 2013, Angus King has served as a U.S. Senator from Maine. He is neither a Republican nor a Democrat; he’s actually one of only two Independents in the Senate, the other being Bernie Sanders. Before getting elected, he was the Governor of Maine for eight years. He won the 2012 election to replace Olympia Snowe, who retired. And with the 2018 midterm elections, he was re-elected for a second term.

A moderate Independent, he’s supportive of efforts to combat climate change and global warming, was highly critical of the Muslim ban by the president, and supports gun control, same-sex marriage, abortion rights, and affordable healthcare. His views seem to align with Democrats in the Senate, but he’s described himself as “neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but an American.”

Two years after his divorce, the couple wed in 1984.

4. They have five children.

Though King has a son from his first marriage, he and Mary have four children together: Duncan, James, and Ben, and Molly. They also have six grandchildren.

5. They are Episcopalian.

King grew up in the church. According to his first wife, “His father was really a very dear man and a steady churchgoer, and his mother was very much a leader in the church, and looked like Queen Victoria. He’s steeped in the church.”

6. She was the victim of a hateful attack.

Back in 2012, Breitbart ran a piece about Mary, comparing her appeal for campaign donations to the “ubiquitous whining, moaning and begging” of President Obama. The article also spread rumors that Angus had an affair with Mary while married to his first wife.
