Teen Mom OG's Mackenzie Standifer just gave birth to her first child with Ryan Edwards. Their son Jagger Ryan Edwards was born at midnight on October 9th. He was reportedly seven pounds and one ounce. Jagger is not 21 year old Standifer's first child. She shares a 4-year-old son with her ex-husband Zachary Stephens. It is also not Edwards' first child. He has 9-year-old Bentley with his ex-Maci Bookout. Edwards was not present for the birth of Jagger and we'll get to why in a moment. Who is Mackenzie Standifer?
1. A world of legal trouble
Ryan Edwards was not present for the birth of Jagger because he is in rehab in Alabama for heroin abuse. The 30-year-old was arrested in July in Red Bank, Tennessee for possession of heroin. He received 11 months and 29 days suspended sentence. This was not his first arrest in 2018. He was arrested in March for violating the terms of his probation on a prior charge of heroin possession when he tested positive for opiates and morphine. Sources close to the Teen Mom star said that Edwards was in complete denial about his addiction as recently as August.
2. She was not alone
Even though her baby daddy is in rehab, Mackenzie wasn't alone during the birth of her second child. Her parents Terran and Bobby were there. Ryan's parents Jen and Larry were also there. Mackenzie, Jagger will be living with her parents for the time being. Edwards is expected to be in rehab until February or March.
3. Are they married?
Edwards and Standifer eloped in May 2017 just before he headed to rehab. They had a do-over wedding in a church in November 2017. During an April 2018 episode of Teen Mom OG, Edwards was not thrilled about hearing the baby's heartbeat for the first time. He told Standifer, "I think we just need to separate for nine months."
4. There's a restraining order against him
Edwards' ex Maci Bookout, their son Bentley, her husband Taylor McKinney and their children have a two-year order of protection against Edwards. The restraining order was granted in May after she alleged that he had threatened to hurt her.
5. Mackenzie and Ryan leaving the show
In July, Mackenzie and Ryan announced that they had quit the MTV series. She told E! News,“We’re not returning to Teen Mom this season. The network told us they don’t want to show Ryan as a recovering addict. But they did want to enter a contract with our unborn baby and have the baby film with Ryan’s parents so it would look like someone else is raising it.”
6. His ex likes her
Though Edwards and Bookout have an extremely strained relationship, Maci does approve of Mackenzie. During an episode of Teen Mom OG, she said, “I am so happy that when [Bentley] is with you, you can be his mother and treat him like your own child. I just want to let you know, I really, really appreciate you.”
7. She regrets being on the show
A fan on Twitter asked Mackenzie if she wished she hadn't joined the MTV reality show. Mackenzie responded,“If I’m being 100 percent honest I regret it every single day,” she replied to the fan. “But I can only speak for myself.”
