Who Is Carmel Musgrove? New Details On The Hollywood Assistant Who Drowned On Jennifer Aniston's Honeymoon

Who is Carmel Musgrove? The name first attracted public attention back in 2015 when Musgrove, an assistant to Hollywood producer Joel Silver, died tragically while accompanying Silver on then-newlyweds Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's honeymoon in Bora Bora.

The marriage between Jen and Justin may be long over but unfortunately for the exes, the tragedy surrounding their ill-fated honeymoon lives on.

In 2017, Musgrove's parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Silver and his personal chef, Martin Herold. Now, according to RadarOnline, honeymooners-turned-exes Aniston and Theroux are being questioned about the incident.

Herold has allegedly fled to France, dragging out the nightmare for the Hollywood exes and delaying the trial from February to June 2019.

Musgrove's family is reportedly working with attorney Brian E. Watkins. “The Musgroves are not giving up. They’re willing to do whatever it takes to help build their case,” a source told Radar.

As the real life murder mystery intensifies, all eyes are now on Aniston and Theroux. So who is Carmel Musgrove? Read on for everything you need to know about the victim of the Hollywood honeymoon tragedy.

1. She was just 28 years old when she died.

According to VarietyMusgrove began working with Silver as intern at his LA based production company Silver Pictures. She later became his assistant and went on to serve as an associate producer on Silver Pictures' films including Non-Stop, The Gunman, and The Nice Guys

2. She went missing on August 18.

According to documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, her nude body was discovered by Bora Bora authorities two days later on August 20th. She was found floating in the water about 500 yards away from her bungalow.

3. Her death was ruled a combination of factors.

The reports blame Musgrove's death on a combination of alcohol consumption, drug use, fatigue, and heatstroke. In the lawsuit published by THR, Musgrove's parents claim that Silver and Herold were responsible for their daughter's death, noting that multiple factors "are traceable to conduct involving the defendants." Back in April 2018, however, Silver replied to the allegations, stating that Musgrove was responsible for her own death and claiming that his former assistant "did not exercise 'ordinary care' for herself" while on the island.

4. She was with Herold shortly before her death.

Musgrove went to Herold's bungalow the night she disappeared, where they allegedly drank and used marijuana and cocaine. While documents state that Silver told French authorities the two often drank together, he denies knowledge of any drug use.

5. Cryptic last text.

The night she died, Musgrove allegedly left Herold's bungalow around 11 p.m., later texting him a message reading only "Xxx" around midnight.

6. Her autopsy was performed by famous pathologist Dr. Michael Baden.

Unsatisfied with the initial pronouncements of French authorities, Musgrove's parents hired the renowned medical examiner to conduct an investigation. Baden has reviewed autopsies for the likes of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.

7. New allegations of foul play.

While the Musgroves' initial lawsuit, published by THC, merely alleged that that the defendants were responsible for factors that ultimately caused their daughter's death, Radar reports that the grieving parents suspect deliberate foul play, with an insider claiming that the couple think their daughter "was murdered because she knew too much” about the inner workings of Hollywood’s elite.

Now, with two such members of Hollywood's elite being targeted for questioning, it seems this case is just beginning even while the marriage that started it all is ending.
