Meet the successful woman behind the Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback and Super Bowl MVP.

Back in October 2018, Kansas City Chiefs fans were dazzled by a play involving then-24-year-old quarterback and NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes. Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was on Mahomes’ tail when Mahomes made the split-second decision to throw the ball to Tyreek Hill... with his left hand! (He's right-handed.) His father, Pat Mahomes, who is also a former MLB pitcher, was surely proud!
In February 2019, Mahomes made news once again after a video he posted of himself playing a pickup basketball game went viral on Instagram. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach called Mahomes' agent after seeing the video.
After the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, in a 31-20 score, against the San Francisco 49ers, Mahomes will really be enjoying his time in the spotlight, especially since he was also named Super Bowl MVP.
But behind every successful athlete is his support team, cheering him on. So, who is Patrick Mahomes' girlfriend?
Before signing with the Chiefs in 2017, Mahomes played football at Texas Tech University. Throughout high school in Whitehouse, Texas, he was a jack-of-all-sports, with promising skills in football, baseball, and basketball.
It was back then that he met his other half, Brittany Matthews — his girlfriend to this day!
It’s no secret that Patrick Mahomes, while young, has impressive talent on the field and deserves his place as starting quarterback for the Chiefs. He also seems to be navigating the fame and fortune with ease, and has his long-time girlfriend to support him.
Who is Patrick Mahomes' girlfriend? Here are all the details about Brittany Matthews, the girlfriend behind one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in the NFL.
1. Mahomes and Matthews attended different colleges.
While Mahomes played football at Texas Tech, Brittany Matthews signed for soccer at UT Tyler. Despite their schools’ rivalry, the two decided to stay together and make the relationship work.
During Matthews’ time at UT Tyler, she made the ASC Academic All-Conference team. She was also named the American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week twice.
2. Who is Patrick Mahomes' girlfriend? She’s a pro athlete, too.
After college, Matthews signed a professional soccer contract to play soccer with Icelandic pro team UMF Afturelding/Fram. “I didn’t even see myself playing college soccer when I graduated high school,” she said. After playing for four years in college, Matthews said that she fell back in love with the sport.
“Every coach I have had at UT Tyler made a huge impact on my love for this game and my decision to play professional soccer. An opportunity opened up for me in Iceland and I could never pass up such an amazing experience to go do what I love,” she added. She spent the summer of 2017 playing professional soccer abroad.
3. Matthews started her own business.
Although Matthews is young, that hasn’t stopped her from taking the initiative to start her own business.
After earning a degree in Kinesiology, Matthews started her own business as a personal trainer and started her own business called Brittany Lynne Fitness. Her website includes a short bio about her history as an athlete as well as testimonials from satisfied customers.
4. They’ve been together for almost 10 years.
Matthews met Mahomes, in high school. The two have stuck together through thick and thin: separate colleges, professional contracts spanning across different states and countries, and several successful professional ventures.
Like any couple blissfully navigating young adulthood, the two enjoy posting pictures together on Instagram, and “parenting” their pit bulls, Steel and Silver (who have an Instagram account of their own).
Matthews and Mahomes are both extremely successful for their ages, and seem to be a match made in heaven!
5. The Kansas City Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl.
Mahomes' star power just keeps growing as the Chiefs just won Super Bowl 2020 against the San Fransisco 49ers. The game was sealed with a final score of 31-20. In addition, the star player was also named MVP of the big game.
In an interview after the game, Mahomes spoke out about the win, saying, "We never lost faith. I think that's the biggest thing. Everybody on this team, nobody had their head down. And we believed in each other. That's what we preached all year long."
Mahomes is only the second-youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl, and is also the third-youngest MVP in the history of the NFL.
However, there is one person who may be even more excited about the win than Mahomes — and that's Matthews. Not only was Matthews posting updates about the big game throughout the night on her social media channels, but she also wasted no time in congratulating her long-time boyfriend as she quickly joined him on the field, where the couple engaged in some sweet PDA.
6. Their relationship has been met with some criticism.
Similar to basically all couples in the public eye, Matthews and Mahomes haven't been exempt from experiencing some backlash about their relationship. In June 2019, Matthews responded to some of the critics who had been claiming that Mahomes "could do better" than her with an Instagram post that eventually went viral.
Although the photo received many likes and comments, there was one in particular that stood out, and it was from Mahomes himself. The football star responded to his girlfriend's photo with two emojis of eyes and fire, which is pretty much self-explanatory in how he feels about his long-time lady love!
