Mac Miller's death shook the music community and has brought many mourning fans together.

The 26-year-old, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, was found dead Sept. 7 in his San Fernando Valley home from a suspected overdose, although the official cause of death has not been released. Authorities reported that he had been deceased for hours before police arrived.

Authorities rushed to Miller's California residence after his assistant made a frantic 911 call when he found the young rapper unresponsive following a party with friends.

An insider told PEOPLE that Miller's death was "such a shock" because Miller, who just released his album SWIMMING Sept. 3, had been watching football with close pals the evening before his death.

“Everyone who he worked with was aware that he was delicate, but thought it was because of the new album, nerves, nothing like this," the insider added.
