Why Did Leah And Brandon Jenner Divorce After 14 Years Together?
A look into the split of the 14-year relationship.
Getty Images Brandon Jenner, Caitlin Jenner’s 39-year-old son, announced on Instagram that he and his wife, 37-year-old Leah Jenner, got a divorce.
In addition to several appearances on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the duo was also known for the music that they released as an indie-pop duo known as Brandon & Leah. Music runs in Leah’s side of the family, as her father is guitarist Don Felder of The Eagles.
Why did Leah and Brandon Jenner divorce?
They were together for 14 years.
While other members of the Jenner/Kardashian clan have had their fair shares of romantic partners over the years, the couple had remained steady and very close for 14 years.
According to People, the couple met when they were in high school together in Malibu, California. They married in 2012, and Leah gave birth to their daughter, Eva James Jenner, in July of 2015.
Jenner announced the divorce on Instagram.
Jenner shared a divorce announcement on Instagram to explain that they do not share any hostility over the split and that their friendship is as strong as ever.
“Even though we have chosen to separate as a couple, we still love one another very, very much and remain a major part of each other’s lives- as best friends, family and loving parents to our daughter,” they said. The post was evidently written by both of them and shared on both of their Instagram accounts. In the closing paragraph, they write that they will not be commenting further on the breakup.
“Here we openly share our truth with you all and, respectfully, we won’t be commenting further so anything that might state the contrary of this message would, undoubtedly, be a fabrication.”
While completely mutual breakups are rare, it seems as though the two truly have similar goals for the future and happy feelings of sentiment for the past.
Brandon Jenner’s mother, former actress Linda Thompson, is understanding of the split.
Us Magazine reports that Thompson gave the two her best wishes via her own Instagram post. In it, she vouches for their honesty and integrity in co-parenting their daughter post-breakup.
“We remain forever a family,” she concludes, followed by “#nothingbutlove.”
In a world full of very public, messy celebrity breakups (a la Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan), it is refreshing to see a couple handle their differences with harmony and class.
