Who is Israel Broussard? Netflix's To All The Boys I've Loved Before is a smash hit. It is a darling, sweet, poignant rom-com starring Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, and Israel Broussard. The story is about 16-year-old half Korean, half Caucasian Lara Jean Covey, who writes love letters to the boys she crushes on with no intention of ever sending them. Of course, those letters accidentally get sent to the boys they are addressed to, causing extreme mortification for Lara Jean as each of her former crushes approaches her.

Israel Broussard plays Josh Sanderson, one of Lara Jean's crushes. In fact, Josh may be Lara Jean's most epic crush. He is also her older sister Margot's boyfriend of several years and her next door neighbor. The film from director/writer Susan Johnson is based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han. If you haven't seen To All The Boys I've Loved Before yet, do yourself a favor and make time for it. It is sweet, funny, poignant, and currently has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Let's take a look at everything we know about Israel Broussard, including a recent Twitter scandal he was involved in.

1. Who is he?

Israel Broussard was born Isaiah Israel Adams in Gulfport, Mississippi on August 22, 1994. His father, Lawrence Clayton Adams, passed away when he was four. He was raised in Saucier, Mississippi by his mother Angela and his stepfather Gil Broussard. Gil adopted Israel and his older sister Aubrey. He grew up in a rural area. He attended local elementary and middle schools in Saucier until Hurricane Katrina hit. After that, Israel was homeschooled.

2. How did he get into acting?

Israel's sister Aubrey was one of his best friends growing up. The two took part in the same activities. When he joined a basketball team, she did too. He joined Cub Scouts, so she joined the Girl Scouts. When Aubrey got involved with the Biloxi Little Theatre, Israel decided to become an actor

3. Past roles

Broussard made his acting debut in the 2010 film Flipped. He has also starred in Fear the Walking Dead, Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, The Chaperone, Perfect High, Happy Death Day, and H8RZ. He can also be seen in Netflix's Extinction.

4. The scandal

Very recently, Broussard came under fire for a number of racist and offensive tweets. The messages, which date back as far as October 2016, contained anti-Black Lives Matter statements. He claimed that the Black Lives Matter movement spread division and insisted that all lives matter, including white lives and police lives.

He liked a Sandy Hook conspiracy theory that stated that the shooting had been staged, anti-Muslim, and pro-Second Amendment tweets. He also mocked Japan after the 9.1 magnitude earthquake in 2011. He also made homophobic remarks about potentially playing a gay character one day. Broussard was accused of being racist, homophobic, and xenophobic. The tweets have since been deleted from his account.

5. The apology

The problematic tweets surfaced just days after the release of Netflix's To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Broussard issued an apology on Twitter, saying, "I am deeply sorry for my inappropriate and insensitive words and likes on social media. I take full responsibility for my actions and I sincerely apologize. This has been a pivotal life lesson for me. I am dedicated to becoming a more informed and educated version of myself."

6. Does he have a girlfriend?

Israel Broussard is dating French actress Keana Marie. The two can be found being pretty cute on each other's Insta accounts.

7. What's next?

Next up for Israel Broussard is 2019's Happy Death Day 2, in which he reprises his role of Carter Davis. There's also a rumored sequel to To All The Boys I've Loved Before, in which we hope to see a lot more of the sweet boy next door Josh Sanderson.
