7 New Details About R. Kelly Sexual Assault Accuser Who Claims He Knowingly Gave Her An STD While Grooming Her For His Sex Cult

Getty Images In light of the attention of Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly documentary, a story from spring of 2018 has gained attention. A woman has filed a police report against R. Kelly regarding "a sexual assault incident resulting in serious bodily injury."
The unidentified woman claims she had an 11-month sexual relationship with the singer last year and that he intentionally gave her an STD without telling her, according to an affidavit.
"Our client filed a criminal complaint with the Dallas Police Department identifying Robert 'R.' Kelly as her assailant in a sexual assault incident resulting in serious bodily injury occurring in Dallas, TX," Lee Merritt, the accuser's lawyer, said in a statement.
R. Kelly, who has been accused of sexual misconduct dozens of times, is under investigation regarding the claims.
Here is everything you need to know about the new sexual assault claims against R. Kelly:
1. She claims R. Kelly knowingly gave her an STD.

Over the course of the 11-month sexual relationship between the unnamed accuser and R. Kelly, he allegedly knew he was infecting her with an STD. The two were in Dallas at the time for a concert.
"During this period, our client was the victim of several forms of criminal misconduct by Kelly, including, but not limited to, unlawful restraint, furnishing alcohol and illegal drugs to a minor, and aggravated assault (via the referenced intentional STD infection)," Merritt claimed.
2. He was allegedly grooming her for his sex cult.
According to the woman, R. Kelly assaulted her while prepping her to be a part of his sex cult.
"These offenses occurred while our client was being groomed to join Kelly’s sex cult,” Merritt said in a statement. “Kelly gradually introduced the cult to our client over the course of their relationship, culminating with an explanation that she would have to sign a contract and offer collateral information about herself and her family for Kelly’s protection."
3. Former members of R. Kelly’s inner circle shared details about his “sex cult.”

According to Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones, and Asante McGee, who used to be a part of R. Kelly’s inner circle, six women live in houses rented by the singer in Chicago and the suburbs of Atlanta, BuzzFeed previously reported.
They said that R. Kelly controls everything the women do, including when they eat, shower, and sleep. They even said he recorded having sex with the women in his “cult.”
“This is R. Kelly, I’m going to live a lavish lifestyle,” said Mack, R. Kelly’s former personal assistant. “No. You have to ask for food. You have to ask to go use the bathroom. … [Kelly] is a master at mind control. ... He is a puppet master.”
Jones was sucked into the cult despite others telling her it was not a good idea.
“I got trapped,” she told the publication. “I had people telling me I was an idiot. But it took me a long time to realize they were right, and I’m talking now because I hope I can help some of these other girls.”
4. She claims the R&B singer held her against her will.
“[O]ur client was the victim of several forms of criminal misconduct by Kelly, including, but not limited to, unlawful restraint, furnishing alcohol and illegal drugs to a minor, and aggravated assault (via the referenced intentional STD infection),” the woman’s lawyer claimed.
This is not the first time R. Kelly has been accused of holding women against their wills.
“We felt from the beginning that the reason he’s holding the girls is he has some kind of STD that he couldn’t cure,” Timothy Savage, who believes R. Kelly is holding his daughter Jocelyn captive, told The Washington Post.
Jocelyn isn’t missing — she’s living with R. Kelly. Tim and the girl’s mother, J., hasn’t seen her since 2016.
“It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible,” she said. “I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening.”
5. R. Kelly allegedly became very abusive and the woman cut ties with him.

"As Kelly’s predatory, controlling and abusive behavior evolved, our client abruptly ended their relationship in February of 2018,” Merritt stated.
6. Texas police are investigating the woman’s claims.
According to AJC, police in Dallas are looking into the allegations brought forth on April 9 by the now-20-year-old.
"When somebody brings something to our attention, we have a responsibility to look into it and to do our due diligence -- that's with any kind of case," Dallas Police Dept. Chief Thomas Castro said on Monday.
7. R. Kelly denies the allegations.

According to The Washington Post, R. Kelly "categorically denies all claims and allegations.”
A representative for the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer declined to comment.
