Ed Sheeran is engaged – and he went to high school with his fiancé!
The red-headed singer got engaged to Cherry Seaborn just before New Year’s and told the world via Instagram.
“We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well,” the caption read.
But who is Cherry Seaborn?
Ed, 26, and Cherry, 25, went to Thomas Mills High School together in his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk, although they were only friends at the time.
The two went their separate ways to pursue their talents. Ed began singing and performing and became the celebrity he is today and Cherry went off to Durham and Duke to study molecular biology and play hockey. She even represented England on the Under-21 hockey team.
Cherry is now a senior consultant in risk advisory at an accounting firm called Deloitte.

They only became a couple in 2015, despite their childhood ties. The relationship began as long-distance, but after awhile Cherry moved back to the UK to be closer to the singer.
A couple of Ed’s songs are supposedly about Cherry.
"How Would You Feel (Paean)" is in reference to Cherry’s middle name, Paean, which means "a song of praise or triumph." The song was written early on in the pair’s relationship, but Sheeran was clearly not afraid to express his strong feelings for her. Some of the lyrics read, "I’ll be taking my time, spending my life / Falling deeper in love with you.’"

His song "Perfect" has lyrics referring to his childhood crush on the hockey player: “We were just kids when we fell in love / Not knowing what it was / I will not give you up this time.”
According to Daily Mail, Ed had a thing for Cherry in school but she was dating someone else at the time.
Now, they are happily engaged.
“This has been the first time I’ve ever actually had the time to fall in love properly,” Sheeran said in an interview last year.” I’ve always got into relationships very passionately — I’m a redhead and also Irish.”
The soon-to-be Sheeran’s have not released any plans for a wedding yet, but they say it will probably be low-key. Ed plans to wear a suit and has even strategically placed his ink so that it can’t be seen when he dresses up.
“You will never see them in a suit,” he said, speaking about his 60 tattoos. “I want to get married and look great.”
Ed has previously said he wants his kids to go to the same high school he attended, so maybe Ed and Cherry will settle down in Framlingham.
The world might not have to wait too long for a tiny, ginger baby, either. Ed told The Sun he “wanted to be a dad, like, last year.”
As of now, they are happily living together in the UK with their two cats, Dorito and Calippo.
