At impressive age of just 31-years-old, she has grown not only to become a director as well as a star, but she is the successful author of two books, Insatiable: Porn — A Love Story (published in 2014) and her latest, Dirty Thirty: A Memoir,  which Amazon describes as "Asa Akira's perceptive, funny, and straightforward writings on love, sex, death, marriage and celebrity ... in a surprising book of essays."

Asa is known — and highly respected —  for the candid and humorous way she puts it all out there.

She's been especially vocal in the way she seeks to break down the myths and stereotypes of women in the porn industry. Speaking with Vice about her first porn shoot, she shared the following details of the experience:

"'It felt so natural, like it didn't feel like this big defining moment,' she said. 'It felt almost like when I am on set now. I was really happy, like, This is definitely what I want to do.'" 

The 5'2" Akira (whose measurements are 32-24-34), has been engaged three times, married once before, and is currently married to fellow porn star and director Toni Ribas in December of 2012.

Super fun fact: Asa — which means "morning" in Japanese — is her actual given name. She chose Akira as the last name of her stage name from the anime film, Akira.
