Robin Thicke and Paula Patton announced their separation this week and dropped a love bomb on the entire world. Sure, they had problems — most notably, Thicke's very public, very sloppy flirtations with other women — but they were always so loved up and looked so oversexed that no one suspected any real trouble brewing.

Still, there were issues behind the scenes, and apparently a breakup was looming for a while.

"It has been a long time coming ... Their marriage was unraveling for a long time," a source close to Thicke said, while another added, "It is not a shock to Robin or Paula, and it is something they have discussed for a long time."

Maybe Thicke, who boasted that Patton likes to "play groupie" for him in the bedroom and who says their marriage is "overspiced," doth protested too much, but if these two can't make it, who can?!

Here, we've rounded up 20 celebrity couples who would break more than each other's hearts if they ever split.

1.President Barack Obama and FLOTUS Michelle met when they were among the few African Americans at their law firm, Sidley Austin -- Michelle even mentored him! When asked how they keep it romantic, Michelle chuckled, "We try to do date nights; it's a little tough. Barack has a 20-car motorcade, men with guns, the ambulance is always there. How romantic can you be?"
