We're bummed that How I Met Your Mother is almost over, but we're equally as excited to see Ted meet The Mother. Can I get a 'finally!'?
Before the show ends, it's time to suit up and sit down because we uncovered a bunch of interesting facts about How I Met Your Mother. It's going to be legen…wait for it...dary!
Neil Patrick Harris is really a talented magician. He is the president of The Magic Castle Club in Los Angeles.
Josh Radnor (Ted) and the creator of the show, Carter Bays, are both from Shaker Heights in Cleveland, where Ted Mosby grew up.
MacLaren's Pub is named after Carl MacLaren, who is Carter's assistant for the show. That explains why they named the bartender Carl!
All future scenes with Ted's kids (played by Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie) were shot in the first season so they stayed the same age throughout the series.
Both Cobie and Alyson were pregnant during the course of the show. They covered it up with baggy shirts and purses. They used the extremely dirty joke in season four (as told by Barney) to allow Lily to leave the show for a few episodes and have the baby.

HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are in a band together called The Solids, and they perform the show's theme song!
The Mother, Cristin Milioti, had no idea what role she was auditioning for. After a 30-minute Skype interview, they flew her out to LA and even while testing for the role, she read from fake scenes that had nothing to do with HIMYM.
McGee's is the real name of the bar that MacLaren's is based upon. McGee's even has a special list of How I Met Your Mother inspired cocktails, including The Naked Man, The Pineapple Incident, and Robin Sparkles.
Samm Levine, who co-starred with Jason on Freaks and Geeks, auditioned for the role of Barney, but has said Neil Patrick Harris was a much better choice. He makes a cameo in the first season while waiting in line to enter the nightclub.

In the episode where Ted and Robin break up, there was a real life proposal! During the episode, a ring was in a champagne glass and Robin thought Ted was proposing. However, the ring belonged to a man at the next table. He planned his proposal with the producers and now that couple's engagement will live forever on the show!
Finally, Lifetime paid $750,000 per episode for syndication rights to air reruns! Money well spent.
